Default Torque Arm choices?

I've tried search a bit but can't figure out what torque arm to go with. UMI stuff looks good but should I go with the body mount one? Which then leads to the question if it will have enough clearance for my XS headers and y-pipe? I don't have any crossmember at all on right now because the stock stamped steel one doesn't fit at all.

contact ryan at umi, he should be able to help, never think about buying umi versus anything else, the stuff is so well built and the tech support is by far the best, which is more than I can say about bmr.

UMI all the way man, im about to spend 1200 bucks on UMI LCA's panhard rod, relocationm brackets torque arm, bolts, mounts, and subframe connectors.

The tunnel mounted TA is more for drag racing only and not so much going into the twisties from what I understand

I had the chance to visit with the guys from UMI at the spring carlisle show here, i looked at the UMI up close. The arm looks very nice and rigid. If i was buying a torque arm or any suspension componets it would be UMI all the way. They have an adjustable and non adjustable arm i believe. To change the pinion angle to help combat wheel hop.

get the full torque arm with the relocation ... keep the **** off the transmission...

probably one of their best setups for overall driveability IMO

Thanks for all the posts, I kinda like the look of the UMI more I think also. I think my choice is gonna be a tranny mounted adjustable torque arm for now and whenever I gain a bit more power I will relocate with the UMI relocation bracket. Another question is I need the cross member that goes under the y-pipe area but I really want to find one with a drive shaft safety loop. Has UMI made any of those besides the floor pan mounted TA w/DSL?

Sounds great. You will be very pleased with this item. It is easy to install and will not add addtional road noise and effect ride quality.

Currently we do not have any drive shaft loops.

If I can help anymore please ask. Thank you!

To be honest I have never heard of XS headers? But the Jet Hot Y-pipe should be fine with either tunnel mounted arm below.

I got my parts ordered from UMI, its a long ways from being finished but for now I ordered a body mounted torque arm with the DSL and relocation brackets for lower control arms. Things next on the list will be subframe, rear control arms and a panhard bar.
