How to get better aerodynamics for roadtrip?
Not sure which forum to post this in. Please move as applicable...
Going on a 3K roadtrip, and I want to improve my aerodynamics.
- My tires are flush with the trim
- I have the FTRA
- I have two pieces of OEM shrouding which originally went around the radiator somewhere. No clue how to put it back on
- My hood is twitching on the highway...seems like I'm getting some extra high-pressure air in the engine bay. I don't like the way it quivers at speed.
- I have the stock grille removed
- I've heard of diffusers for the rear bumper, but they don't appear to work well with rear tips
- Do they make such a thing like high-speed film to wrap around the front-end without affecting cooling, etc?
Suggestions?

Duct tape. Just tape up all the seams around the doors, hood, etc.
There is not much you can do for a "stock" vehicle. If you get into custom fiberglass front ends, etc....there are gains to be had. As it sits, the f-body is reasonably slippery (aerodynamically), not perfect, but pretty good. I often see 30 mpg on road trips with my cruise set at 84mph (M6 car with 3.42's). That is a number I can live with from a 350 hp v8 powered car (that weighs about 3600 lbs). Good luck!
