Default C5 vs Fbody rear pad Abutment bracket

I bought a set of brackets from another member and had them powder coated. I went to put them on the car and I can't get the pad to go into place. It looks like the pad is just a little too big. I can get it into place if I tap it but then it's in a bind. I know if I tried to use it the brakes won't work correctly. Is it possible that they might be C5 brackets?

Nope they were sanded off to make a smoother finish when powder coated. Didn't think it looked any different than the stock set at the time

did you remove the powder coating from the surface that the pad rides on? .....there might be enoughe powder coating on there to prevent the pad from fitting correctly.

The powder coating wasn't put on thick enough to cause a problem. The front set went right on without a problem. I didn't check both rear brackets as I was short on time and when I hit this problem I called it quits for the day. Its really a tight fit there's no way the coating was put on thick enough to cause this much trouble. It's got to be something with the bracket

You could walk into a local parts store and ask to see a set of pads for a C5. See if they fit. Or, I've had some rear PAB's that were pretty tight. A few mils of powdercoating could have made them too tight (on some of the ones I've seen).

Thanks for the suggestion. I wish I would have checked these before I took them to be coated.

That's not always true it depends upon how much was sprayed on the part. Powder coating doesn't always have to be thick to be durable
