Default torque arm question

I just put in this torque arm ( Link below ) and the crossmember where the DS safety loop is my Y pipe is sitting right on it. When I drive it makes this horrible noise and I can feel it banging against it. Anyone have the same problem. Also I am not 100% sure but I think it is also hitting the DS safety loop itself.

I had the same torque arm, fit my car fine (Strange 12 bolt). I sold it to a guy with a 9 inch and it did the same thing to him. It changes the angle of the shaft I believe. He cut/clearanced the ds loop alil. Not uncommon.

you could always just go get some flat viton gasket material (sold in sheets of varying thickness) and cut a small piece that would fit in between the y-pipe and the bracket. viton is for high-heat applications, up to 392° F, and should get rid of any clanking between the exhaust and the bracket.

i used to work at a place that sold the stuff, it was an industrial supply company....we sold gasket materials, hydraulic hoses/fittings, etc. to farmers & oil companies.

just cut it to fit the size of the bracket, then either glue or zip-tie it onto it.

i'd suggest getting several different thicknesses to see what would work best...it comes in sheets anywhere between 1/16" - 1/2" thick, and maybe even thicker.

the only downside i can think of is that the stuff is somewhat expensive, but i wouldn't trust any other rubber-type material, as it would likely melt and/or catch fire.

I have just installed 2 of the exact same torque arms on a camaro and a transam both with 9" in them. WE are having the same problem. I took the torque arm back out (pain in the ***) and adjusted both of the bolts back by the rear end at least an inch each and it gave some clearance. Make sure to go to harbor freight and get a magnetic angle finder and set your torque arm to -2degrees or you will have crazy wheel hop at the track.

We fixed the exhaust touching the crossmember but there is still a nasty thudding/grinding noise when I drive 60mph or faster what the hell could that be?
