but seriously if you want the least expensive shocks that will work with your setup, your looking at a set of revalved bilsteins. go to Stranoparts.com to get a quote.

if you're staying at stock ride height, and you're wanting to get some on the cheap, it doesn't really matter a whole hell of a lot.
however, if you're going to be lowering (especially by cutting coils out of the stock springs), then to do your suspension correctly and keep it from looking like a clown car bouncing down the road, you're gonna need to get some good shocks.......don't cheap out on the shocks for a lowered car, get some that will handle the spring rate.
if you don't, your shocks will wear out in a fraction of the time as they do at stock height. this means you will need to replace them again, costing you more money. each time you replace the shocks, you will need to get the car re-aligned, costing you more money. if you don't re-align the car, your tires will wear out a lot quicker.....you guessed it.....costing you more money.
if you're going to lower the car, just do it right the first time....if you don't have the money now, then save until you do. it will be worth it in the end.
for more specific information on this, just give Sam Strano a call....he knows his **** and will recommend something for you based on your specific needs....which he can only know if he talks with you in person.

Best shock for the money? Konis because they are pretty much doing what a lot of other 2000+ dollar shocks can do for ~800.
If you have a budget then you should specify "What is the best shock for the money under X dollars?"
BTW I just bought an STI. All of you guys who think Koni's are too expensive should hop into some other cars where you can't find a decent set of shocks for under 1500 bucks

Ok, bud.
If you want to repeat what I made the mistake of doing......go ahead. You'll have to replace your kidneys which will cost you more than the $800 dollars, or the other damage you'll do to the rest of your car riding on the cheap.
I just changed out my cheapies for the Konis I bought from Sam Strano.......Damn, what a difference! I'm in El Paso, and the roads are not forgiving at all down here.
After the install, I drove around town for an hour, looking for those spots that would upset the steering, or make the car hit the bump stops. Nothin' would upset the car now.
Thank goodness I put SFCs, STB, on the car years ago.
Koni SAs....I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'!!!

well you said that 800 is out of your range. that knocks out koni sa and koni da
the next thing is revalve bilstines from sam strano you tell him what you want from the car, what you dont like, and he will have a set custom "revalved" to you. i think around 500
then you have bilstine hd for about 325 that are a great stock replacement shock and they are a upgrade over stock.
i saw that you said you want sams springs. are you gonna be doing the install on the shocks and springs your self? just save up more and do the shocks and springs at the same time
