Default No Difference...

So what does it mean when one changes their stock tranny mount with a poly one and notices no difference whatsoever? At all.

Thanks (You can guess this is my scenario.)

My guess is your old tranny mount was in very good shape. Most who have done this do it to eliminate the shifter from bobbling around at high RPM shifts.

You won't really notice a "difference" with the poly mount. What you bought is durability. You no longer have to worry about the rubber mount tearing apart from the torque arm pulling on it. If you have any kind of power you'll go through rubber mounts left and right.

Check your motor mounts. They may be the culprit if you are still experienceing some movement in the shifter.

edit: And even if you install poly motor and trans mounts, you will still have movment in the shifter...

Ditto, your rubber mount was probably in good shape. Poly mounts are good insurance though for the future, so you didn't waste any money. You made a good upgrade.

My rubber one must have been torn pretty bad because my shifter was all over the place when I would rev the car but now it stays in place after the poly mounts

What "difference" were you expecting?

I had a lot of shifter movement on high rpm shifts I changed to poly mounts and a ta relocation and now I have none. Havnt tried changing to a poly tranny mount since some people say they get a lot of vibes.

Yeah the rubber mount looked perfect, so I guess it is a good sign. I was just trying to get rid of the movement the shifter gets when I put the gas pedal down. It moves to the right about an inch or so (might be perfectly normal. It is my first F body, so I do not know.) It doesn't move upwards, just to the right.

I think I do too...

Let's say I am in second gear... moving at 30 mph... or even 3rd at a higher speed...

I will punch the gas half way down or so VERY quickly and let off very fast (i was testing things) and the car will rock back forward and rear about 3 times or so (the gas is let off the entire time). The rpms go with the engine as well.

I think my motor mounts are toast? It's weird because the car had 24k on it and it was like that when I bought it. Otherwise everything is perfect.

This also sucks because I am nowhere near mechanically inclined enough to install motor mounts myself.

Ya poly motor mounts are a bitch to install. I did them in about (ya its embaressing) 30 hours total over 2 weekends. I took my time and it was the hardest thing i had installed at the time. Worth the difference afterwards IMO. You can do it man it just is a bitch because its such a small place to work in.

Yeah. Problem is I dont have a place to do it where I live and the shop where I use my friends lift is only open at random times, and I can't leave my car there as we can only use it for a few hours at a time...
