Wheel Bearings?
My left front wheel locks up in reverse. It turns freely going forward though, so the calipers are not sticking. Also while driving i hear alot of rattling from the wheel area. Any ideas?

I'd jack it up and look for play, see if the wheel seems loose. If the bearings are worn enough to cause that type of problem, it will be very loose as you "shake" the tire (with the car in the air). Start there and see what you find (and let us know).

Re: Wheel Bearings?
btw, make sure you shake with your hands on the 12 and 6 position, this is a dead giveaway that its the hubs.
If its left and right or 3 and 6 o'clock, then you may also have some steering issues.
and if it is your wheel bearings, i just replaced mine at Murrays (if you have one of those by you?) for 117 each or so (lifetime warranty), I hear the dealer wants a killing for them.
but its actually locking up with all 4 wheels on the ground when you are in reverse? that is some serious drag, you sure your calipers arent loose or something else may be hitting the wheel?
I dont knwo what the possibility is that the abs sensor is wacking out on you and locking in one direction? its a part of the hub assembly also.
btw, mine took some SERIOUS whacks with a hammer to get off the spindle arm.

Re: Wheel Bearings?
The top bolt to the caliper bracket fell out, thats why i was getting all that rattling. It would lock up in when backing up because when the rotor would spin backwards, it would pivot the top of the caliper back, and the bottom in. So the calipers where rubbing the rotor.
Thanks for the ideas, i was'nt to sure why the wheel would lock up like that. I finaly had a few minutes to get under the car and look. I think i am still going to replace my bearings though, there is a little bit up play shaking the wheel up and down.
