Default Clunk

I dropped my 10 bolt out this weekend to do a little servicing, and maybe im just noticing it more because I didnt drive the car for a few days, but there seems to be a little bit of a "clunk" when I go over a bump or a rough spot in the road. Any ideas to what this could be? Everything got bolted back up like it was....

Mine did that once, forgot to tighten the LCA bolt/nut to the rear end.

I had a shock go out and it made a clunk noise, but that was in the front. But, I suppose it could happen in the rear as well.

Never thought of that...That would be a major coincidence though that it would go out just as I put the rear back in..

maybe the shock went out becuase when you dropped the rearend it was extended out all the way for a while and lost some of its charge-after all its used to having pressure on it. Maybe not just a thought

it had a whine so i took it apart to see what was up...turned out my pinion bearing was going bad...replaced all the bearings...axles, pinion, and wheel bearings, put new seals in the pinion and wheel bearings, bolted the rear back up, and it has a clunk now when i hit bumps

Well, you had to have unbolted the shocks either from the top or the bottom, in either case they are going to extend all the way out.

I unbolted them from the bottom and they sucked up in the shock itself....

My car is doing the same thing, when you hit a bump, go over a speed bump there is a clunking noise that comes from the rear I think, its driving me nuts, my husband is going to install my shocks, struts and new springs, and some other misc suspension parts, is there any other stuff that might be causing the noise. I dont want to ask him because it already frustrates the hell out of him. Hopefully once we install everything it will go away. Other than the clunking there is no vibration.
