Default M6 hookin up post

i thought the use of a thread like this was warranted for as many questions this forum gets reguarding traction issiues. this one will be directed towards the manual transmission guys, (auto guys seem to get away with it easier ;D ) i know we've got some seriously traction oriented people on this board and also some traction limited folks as well (myself included).

post you're 60' times, tire size, pressures ect.. suspension mods, motor mods, use of nitrous ect, what RPM you launch at, and how well the car hooks on the street as well as the track. thanks in advance guys!

well....for me its a best of 2.207 60' time....on.

F1 Supercar 295/35ZR18s @ 38psi
G2 coilovers (no help with traction there)
rod end LCAs
rod end panhard rod
BMR K-member
BMR upper A-arms (full rod end)
LG Lower A-arms (full rod end)
Edlebrock torque arm
SLP subframes (welded)
Wolfe 6 point cage (welded)
32mm front/ 21mm rear sway bars

with...

400wrhp/385rwtq
Spec Stage 3 clutch w/ aluminum flywheel
3.73 gears

I launch at 1500 - 2000RPM to TRY and avoid wheel spin.....

in otherwords....I DON"T hook in 1st....it just won't happen....

but then most races for me don't start below 55mph anyways....

I've got a 98 with just a lid, filter, free ram air, and bullet muffler are the ONLY mods I had done to my car last year and I've pulled a 1.99 60ft on Futura SS 16" tires with about a 2000RPM launch, and 32 lbs of pressure.

Screamin_Z.....how is the 8.8 working out for you? Does it use the stock style torque arm and 3 channel ABS?

There is a guy here in Phoenix that is about to start making them.....

Stock GSC's 245/50R16 (If I remember the tire size correctly correctly)

Quick spin to clean off the tires

2.4 60' @ 30 PSI 1500 RPM Launch
2.2 60' @ 25 PSI 1500 RPM Launch

Mods in sig, stock suspension.

Didn't have a chance to launch any higher in RPM range or drop tire pressure more. Track closed

Stock 275/40R17 F1s (stinko). 20 psi and dumped the clutch ~ 3500 RPM, resulted in a 2.0 60' at ATCO. But that track does have some crazy hook at times!

My best 60fts on the stock 275 Firehawks were a couple 1.90s. Had lots of 2.0s. Might have been able to better that with a better clutch.

I slip the clutch out when I launch. The track dictates how much I actually slip it. If the track is good, I sorta just release the clutch slowly. Picture you are at a redlight next to a cop. Light turns green and you pull away, thats about the speed I release the clutch except that I have the throttle to the floor as I'm doing it.

If track prep is crappy, well I've slipped the clutch 3/4s of the way though 1st before releasing completely and it still spun. BTW, on a run like that the stock clutch gets very pissed. Usually have to let it cool for awhile after a run like that.

I do a decent burnout, not a long one but also longer than a clean-off spin. As for air pressure,,I had the best luck with around 28-30psi in the Firehawks.
