F-body brackets (C5 brackets wont fit, and are for a 13" rotor).

Note: C5 calipers have smaller pistons than LS1 f-body calipers, so you will lose some braking power (but probably not that big of a deal).

Our stock rotors are a large part of the weak spot on these cars...my car stops FANTASTIC with stock brakes...but after 25K miles, the rotors are getting tired...starting to feel it in the brake pedal...never not had enough stopping power from my stock calipers though.

Next money I invest in brakes on this car will be something involving BIG rotors.

C5 rotors and fbody rotors have the same bolt pattern, I guess you would call it that. The brackets from LG, UMI, and BMR are so you can use a 13" rotor on the Fbody. I doubt it would really matter though if you used a 12" rotor with a C5 caliper

No, they aren't the same. F-body is cast, C5 is forged. F-body has 44mm pistons, C5 has 40.5mm pistons.

If you use an f-body pad bracket and rotors, use f-body pads.

Why are you putting C5 calipers on anyway (I bet for the looks)?

you will need brackets like sold by UMI, LG etc.. if you want to run bigger rotors
the calipers make no difference there
you can use your stock calipers with 13" rotors

Just to make it clear to run 13" rotors u need to buy the bracket from a aftermarket vendor..... But u can still use the stock F-body LS1 caipers and brackets???? Right.........

You gotta love the random responses in this thread....

The fbody stock size rotors aren't bad. Stock rotors tend to warp, or do whatever it is that most call warping which makes them unwanted in short periods of time. There's Brembos and other rotors out there that can be bought for cheap and endure some heavy use.

Though if you are losing braking power, it's your pads that are wearing out. Not the rotors.

they are close enough for it to be a waste of money to buy the calipers for stock fbod rotors

I agree 100%. It seems like 3/4 of the people asking this question just want to put red Z06 calipers on their car because they are too lazy to paint their calipers.

Heres what no one realizes or takes the time to figure out.
The stock CALIPERS are what causes the STOCK rotors to warp.
This IMO is why the GM TSB about f body brake warping advises the tech to turn the rotors on the car and REUSE the pads (because they are already worn at an angle due to the uneven clamping force of the caliper).
My rotors were turned 5 times under warranty.
When the warranty was over they warped again so I got new pads and rotors.

When the new parts went on and got broken in it was clear that the stock calipers were spread from deflection (posted it here before, yea no one agrees I get it).
The calipers would deflect or spread apart under normal braking, I could see this because the outer 3/4" of the rotor was dark and over heated while the inner part (near the center) still looked new.
The backside of the rotor had even wear.

This is the reason the C5 calipers are made of a different material and are thicker in some areas.

The stock calipers will continue to clamp any rotor with more clamping force on the outer edge, this is why they warp. Upgrading to a different rotor only just gets you a rotor that better resists warping.

I got a UMI C5 kit and haven't had a problem since. I would assume doing just the calipers would help the same.

This is my experience, yours may vary.
