Default warped rotars help.

i have put 10000 miles on my car and have already gone throught to sets of rotars. i mean they warp bad. i do not race the car or anything. i cant even pull up to a red light with out feeling like some one is pumping the brake pedal. this seems a little excessive to me. could there be something else wrong or do these go out this often. any one else ever had this problem.

Likely just the factory rotors. Mine died at under 5000 miles and I'm historically pretty easy on brakes. Rather than screw around with the stockers again just pick up a decent set of aftermarket rotors. I'm using KVRs and have been happy with them for my needs and they're very reasonably priced to boot. Others prefer Autozone rotors, etc., but regardless anything seems to be better than the OEM units in this case.

I had my rotors warp and took the car back to the dealer. They turned them, and now the problem is gone. I am just worried about two things. I know it is going to come back, just how soon. And also, are the rotors as good as before. They took some off when they turned them, did that affect their performance? I think I am going to get some aftermarket ones. I can't believe that they would put such a crappy piece of equipment on these cars.

I'm not a fan of turning rotors. Since you remove even more metal you're only increasing your chances of warpage the second time around. It is a valid temporary solution in many cases, but I'd plan on buying a set of aftermarket rotors myself.

Also, this is not a problem specific to the F-bodies. I had similar problems on my '95 ZR2 and my '95 Grand Am. In both cases I installed ACDelco Durastop rotors and the problem was cured. On the other hand I had almost 90,000 miles on my '88 Oldsmobile rotors and I currenly have 35,000 miles on the original rotors on my '01 ZR2 with no problems whatsoever I guess its just luck of the draw...

www.tirerack.com

Look for Brembo OEM rotors, $61 each. I just replaced a set that I ran with very destructive race pads. I had removed 212 thousandths of material off the rotors (nearly 1/4 inch of wear) and no warp. They were 4mm under spec when I removed them. It is not the rotors fault, I am running full race compound pads on my car (daily).

Yeah, my OEM rotors warp every 7k miles like clockwork. Since I'm in college with very little money, I just keep goin back to the dealer for "excessive wear".

I have Eradispeed rotors. Superb with a set of semi-metalic pads. Or cheaper would be power slots but I've never had them no input on performance.
