Default noisy rod ends

how noisy are G2 LCAs with poly/rod supposed to be, mine *clunk*, not over the big bumps that you see, just those poorly constructed roads that are far from smooth -(especially on my grated dirt road! yea, it sucks to live in the country!)- Great traction though!

Do yall think I might have installed them wrong, any suggestions on making them quieter?
--P.S.--
When my girlfriend asked "What the hell's wrong with your car!?" I said "that's the sound of performance!"

Same questions as always:

(1) poly end on the body, rod on the axle, right?

(2) bolts/nuts properly torqued? - i.e. correct spec is 87ft-lb on the bolt side and 55 ft-lb on the nut side - rod ends can be tighter since they clamp up, weight of the car should be on the suspension when torquing

Mine are dead quiet and have been since day 1. I would not necessarily assume that clunking is normal.

Make sure the Jam nuts are tight. There have been noises traced to loose jam nuts on the rod ends on the LCA's.

Check to make sure the bushings fit right in the rod end, and are stepped for the bolt. I got one buhsing that had the large hole in both and it made noise over bumps like you describe. LG replaced it for free and they are queit now. I have 12-13K miles on the rod ends as well, plus a bunch of racing.

I bought the Madman adjustable lower rear control arms and PHB with rod ends and also the ARE K member and lower A arms with rod ends. I will see how much noise they make with all suspension moving points being solid.

All rod ends are not created equal. Here are some sites to buy quiet rod ends.

http://www.aurorabearing.com/
http://www.alinabal.com/mtd/rodends.html

My PA K member and A-arms came with junk rod ends. They started making noise after 200 miles. I tried several lubricants but motor oil works best to control noise. I've replaced one of PA's defective rods ends already with a nice and quite Alinabal rod end.

dont use oil, it only attacts and hold dirt. then your just wet sanding the rodend. use graphite spray.

You are correct about them wearing out prematurely with oil but I tried graphite spray, didn't work. Still noise. It sounds like I'm driving a clunker. I'll replace them with the good ones when they wear out. The self-lubricating that don't need oil.
