Default Non-Stop Brake "Chirping" Saga Update

I previously postd on here about brake chirping that has not been solved over a 3 month period - despite putting new rotors, new ceramic pads, lubing, spraying............on and on.

So I took my Z to a 3rd mechanic, and he said the only thing he can think of is to just try a new rotor/pads cobo and replace all the brake hardware.

I guess the rotors/pads should be exchangeable at Advance Auto Parts - since they're only 3 months old (Raybestos Ceramic Pads).

Anyone have any suggestions for what to get?

THANKS!

Come to think about it a friend of mine had the same problem, and it ended up being the really cheap lifetime brake pads that he used. I believe he has switched to some better replacement pads and that solved his problem. However i cant remember if he used ceramics or not, he may have. You might try getting a non ceramic pad just to see. Not saying that you used the cheapest crap out there, but thats what he used and it was his problem.

Many here like me use Hawk pads for a good reason. I don't like the cheapie pads you get from the corner parts store.

Swap into a set of Hawk pads and don't look back. See Sam Strano --->

i have those duragold ceramic pads and i had the same problem. turns out it was the top slider pins stuck on both sides...so, i took some visegrips and worked it back and forth till it came loose. lubed them up {repacked} with hi-temp wheel bearing grease. problem solved!

My 98 had the same problem. I tryed a few quick fixes, IE cheap pads and rotors. The fix for MY problem was a new GM blank, and hawk pads with lube on the back of the pads.

You should confirm your wheel bearings are good and not squeaking.

OK..........so here is the conclusion (just in case anyone is interested).

It turns out that the RH axle hub is bent and that is why I have been getting the intermittent squeaking all of this time.

The previous owner must have hit a curb or something I guess.

I found one used on ebay for $50 + $20 shipping.

However........The brakes themselves are still squealing/whistling separate from the axle problem and I have all new rotors and ceramic pads??????

Is it inevitable that I will have to live with this forever??

Assuming you tried the disc brake quiet goo? Take the pads out and slap a nice 3 mm layer of that stuff on the back of the whole pad

I had the axle issue as well ... I also figured out after new pads/rotors didn't fix the problem. First, clean the caliper/caliper bracket/rotor and pads well. Then get some hi-temp silicone and wipe a little on all the metal to metal contact areas between the pad and caliper and caliper bracket, don't forget the spring band on the caliper that the top of the pads pushes up against.

Told you to check that 6 weeks ago in your other post! lol. But glad you got it worked out. Nothing like driving a car that doesnt sound like a 19-year-old dump truck.
