After I bought my car I took it in for some check up work to make sure it was in good standing being that it was used. The brakes were squeaky as hell and the rotors were crap. I had the brakes replaced and the rotors turned down. They still squeaked but couldn't take the car back because the jackasses went out of business. I don't like taking my car in for little **** either. I've since then replaced my rotors with drilled and slotted. They still squeak. What the hell is going on? Is the brake goop not sticking or something?

Pull the pads out of the calipers. All auto parts stores will sell a paste or spray that you put on the back side of the pads where they contact the calipers. Squeaking comes from the pads actually vibrating in the caliper- the goo dampens the pads- this usually does the trick.
