...calipers? Can I just get the brackets, some C5 rotors, and THAT'S IT? Reuse stock pads, calipers, lines, bolts, etc. It seems it should be that easy. Has anyone done it? What else did you need besides the brackets and (obviously) the rotors.

I had a post about this earlier this month. Seems the brackets are available for $399 from LG Motorsports and I didnt find anyone who has tried it here to comment. But sounds like an alternative I'd be willing to try if it offers substantial results.

i belive the pads themselves have a slightly different curve to them, but if you are changing rotors you really should change pads anyway

Yes, you can run the G-Stop set-up with stock F-Body calipers and pads

Cool, thanks mitch. Any idea about vette vs fbody pads? Or are the calipers just angled slightly to allow the pads to contact the entire rotor surface? Or do the pads just contact the outer edge?

The 2 pads are very close in surface area. It's the curvature of the pad and the ear placement where the pad rides is what the differences are.

If you use the F-Body abutment bracket, use the F-Body pad. The pad will hang over the edge a millimeter or 2, but it's not an issue.

I picked up just the G-Stop brackets, & G-stop Rotors(with hardware) and put it on my 01 T/A. Had ZERO problems (used f-body calipers and hawk hps pads)full pad contact, VERY EASY installation. Now it stops like nobody business I can't begin to tell you how much of improvement it made over the Eradispeeds I had.

It's amazing what actually upgrading the brakes will do for performance.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the abutment bracket?

Thanks,

The abutment bracket is the frame that bolts to the spindle and the pads ride in. It goes around the rotor.

Oh cool, I usually just call that the caliper frame (I like making up my own terms).

Can you use C5 pads with Fbod calipers? Will the mounting ears fit right?

I like quiet pads that don't dust too much, so some Z06 pads would be nice someday, if they'll fit.

I appreciate the help, this is really informative for me.

I think I've called it caliper frame before. I saw it listed on a parts list not too long ago as abutment bracket.

For the life of me I cannot recall why C5 pads can't be used in F-Body "caliper frames". But something tells me it doesn't work.

Seems like the pad backing plate binds on the "caliper frame" ... don't quote me, though.

There isn't a thing wrong with the OEM GM F-Body pads, though. They perform well, take the heat OK and dust to acceptable levels.

The C5 pads will hit the frame, unless you grind the pad backing plate itself.

You can purchase the brackets and rotors from LG. I would have to check on simply brackets

Cool, maybe I'll call up tomorrow. Especially considering no one wants to do a GP on these things *sniff*

Holy ****! This is from 4 years ago! I give you props for researching though instead of creating a new thread.

I am pretty sure that all you would need is the Bracket and the C5 PAB with C5 Pads to work with your F-Body Calipers.

Not without modification to the bracket. The Corvette PAB is held on with 14mm bolts, the F-body version has 12mm bolts. You'll need to drill a considerable amount of material out of the bracket to bolt the C5 stuff to it. Since I've not handled a set of those brackets, I can't tell you if you can safely do that and retain enough strength for the bracket to do its job.

You can do it, but you'll need to mod them or use a different bracket (there are several).
