Yeah faulty u joints and lowering springs and PHB get blamed. Sorry, but I really don't think the rear being off center 1/8" had anything to do with the u joint exploding, but thats just my .02. Driving 110 with bad joints did though, just think of how many RPMs that d-shaft was spinning.

Glad to hear most everything is ok though, I have a steel shaft if you want. I'd let it go cheap, unless you have something stronger in mind.

yeah im not really blaming one or the other but i think it was a combination of them all. I was not spraying when it broke, it was all motor pulling 5th gear out up a slight hill. I just cant understand how it broke when i was steady on the gas and not when i was punishing second gear all those times lol. Anyways, new/used driveshaft is here so hopefully i will have it in tom.

Well you did say that you were going 110 mph, so your driveshaft was probably spinning ~7000rpms. Spinning something that fast with a bad u joint it will find the weak link rather fast, but this is just my opinion. Hopefully everything goes back together good for ya

If he was in 5th gear though, he would only be at 3700 rpms at 110 mph

engine rpm does not equal driveshaft rpm, I'm sure you know this tho, but the 7000rpm is not engine rpm, he's talking about the driveshaft rpm

If my calculations are right, the driveshaft was spinning at 5000rpm at 110mph, assuming its an M6, 3.42s

Its an m6 with 4.10's actually. But i have def. come to the conclusion that it was a bad u-joint. The caps are stuck in the end of the driveshaft still, the u-joint is no where to be found, and the saddles and bolts are still intact on the rear yoke. I think the u-joint basically just shattered. Anyways, come to find out after further inspection my torque arm is bent, my ebrake cables are shot, and my rear end seal is blown out because its soaked in gear oil. So looks like the camaro is going to be down longer then i hoped. Guess its time to upgrade to an adjustable torque arm with safety loop and an adjustable panhard bar.

That sucks man, its never fun breaking something to find out that you broke a whole bunch of stuff on top of just the one thing. Get those parts and get her back on the road. Good looking car man, you have anymore pics?

I've had both my cars lowered for 6 years, not a problem yet with exploding driveshafts.
