Which K member do you guys feel is best? Mostly street, but drag and road racing about once a month.

I might be a little partial but i believe that our k members are the best on the market. The work equally well for street, drag or road racing. If you have any questions please give us a call.

Not trying to knock all BMR products, but to compare K-members specifically ...

BMR:

UMI:

For drag racing or daily driving, I'm sure the BMR would hold up just fine . For road racing??? Do you know the forces being put on the car?! I'd go with the purpose-built, Road Race K-member from UMI .

Not trying to start world war 3 but we have quite a few k members in use on scca race cars. Apollo was interested in a k member that could serve multi functions. For a universal street, strip, and the occasional road course it will hold up fine.

If your number one criterion is toughness the stock
piece can't be beat. Yeah, it's a pig. But if I had it
to do over I think I'd spend my money on a plasma
cutter and swiss-cheese a junkyard K just to see
how much weight I could get off it. If you have an
eye for that sort of thing. Some pounds are worth
more than others.

I waited to see what the hardcore RR guys felt. I then picked the UMI myself after a lot of research.

I will be trying to twist the hell out of it with 700hp and lots of cornering grip in the near future.

When Ryan mentioned to me he wanted to build a K-member I told him flat out that I wouldn't sell one that resembled the stuff that was already around. A k-member takes all the lateral load from the front suspension, and I will not trust a single tube to do the job.

I had a lot of input on the UMI piece, and was glad Ryan asked so I could put my two cents in and have a part I felt comfortable selling.

I think if anyone looked at the stock K, and then compared the aftermarket stuff it'd be clear which of the aftermarket versions offer the most strength. We sacrifice a few pounds in weight savings... but a car that is wrecked and weighs 5 pounds less isn't much good IMHO.

I sell the UMI part. I had input in the UMI part. I strongly feel it's superior, and I'm the first to say that more simple things like PHB's really don't vary all that much. That's not the case here. MHO, YMMV, etc.

Had a BMR with thier lower A-arms, K-member broke on the street while I was driving, and the A-arms bent where the shocks bolt to. It broke on the left side cross brace. Happened a few yrs ago and all I got in response was these items are not ment for the street. Drag race only!

^ ^ interesting!

I had a similar experience with an aftermarket part failing (not the K-member, and not BMR) that was only seconds after exiting the free-way ... things could have been messy ...

... based on experiences like that, I would be very selective in exactly which parts you choose to put on your car, and what you plan to do with the car.

Like Sam mentioned, are ~5 extra pounds worth sacrificing critical strength?

I find it VERY hard to believe this was the response you where given...What name was the K-member purchased under? I have been with BMR since we made parts in a 1 car garage and this is not how we conduct business ..If you don't want to post it on the board that's fine PM me....

Sorry about the post BMR-I know yall make some outstanding products that I still have on my car. Could have been a fluke on mine. Like I dont believe the Moser rear ends are not installed correctly is why the are breaking everyones TQ arms. I believe its a hardware issue. Sent a sponser my fix but never heard back. To the OP, and back on track. A aftermarket K-member offers alot of extra room and the wieght savings are awsome no matter how little here and there. It adds up. Again sorry and remove it if anyone feels that it needs be.
