The konis are retardedly expensive as we all know so i was wondering, what else is out there that is really good too, or is everything else crap and the konis are really the only deal?

Strano re-valved Bilstiens or KYB AGX's.

Strano packaged Bilstiens (which are regular Bilstiens, but with a different rear shock than the one specified for our cars. Strano's not making revalves anymore) or KYB AGX's.

I say the KYB AGX's or just try and find a set of used koni's like i did. Almost the same price. But i do agrea that I would not have bought the Koni's for new price.

The next best shock depends on what kind of springs you want to use. I think Sam usually recommends different shocks depending on the spring application if Koni's are not an option. His recommendations can change daily depending on many factors, so I would contact him about it.

Bryan hit the nail right on the head! The shocks need to be matched to the springs you are using, and how you plan on using the car. A drag car's shock requirements is different from an autocross car, which is different from a road race car which is way different than a street car. Give Sam a call, he is a world on knowledge.

If you going to do the Strano Springs, then I really recommend you do the Strano Bilsteins. They are valved to work with his spring rates, and they do work very well.

Sorry Sam, I didn't know that, I haven't been in the market for dampers since you sold me Koni's about 3 years ago.

In any event, Sam's the man when it comes to setting these cars up. There may be better people out there (but I doubt it), and they don't share technology like Sam.
