QA1 Install
A friend of mine has a set of front single adjustable HAL's that he is willing to let go of for 125 bucks. Seems to be a pretty good deal to me and they have been rebuilt pretty recently.
I'll still need to buy springs for them, so I was wondering what spring I should go with. These will be going on a full weight stalled car.
Also, when i looked at the shocks all he had was the shock bodies, spanner rings, and thats it. Are the bushings for the upper mount etc. all reusable from the factory shocks? If not, what all do i need to be buying to have a complete kit.
Thanks
Make sure you also get a spanner wrench to adjust the ride height.

are the HAL single adjustabe the "f" series shock or does anyone know?
just want to make sure these will behave well on a full weight car that still sees a lot of street time. im looking for a marginally better launch at the track and the ability to lower the front a bit.
any opinions appreciated, thanks!

im just hoping that its street manners will be tolerable.
SO- assuming i get shock bodys only, i will need to reuse stock spring with the purchase of BMR's spring cups, and also reuse the upper bushings, washers etc from the factory decarbons since all i have up top on the HAL's are the shock shaft correct?
also, should i be about to get it about an inch lower using stock springs?
QA1 and HAL are the same company right?
thanks a lot guys, my confusion is more in the difference of HAL, QA1, whether or not its f series, r series etc. the one way adj i understand
don't want to end up regretting this purchase
My guess would be if they are older HAL branded shocks they are the f-series that the adjustment does the compression and rebound together soft/soft to firm/firm. The r series shock is a drag shock where your adjustment only does the rebound and the compression is always a fixed rate.
Either series shock should work for you many have raced and driven both, I personally have the R's with the BMR spring cups and stock front springs (reused stock bushings / bolts) and race / street drive the car without problems with the right settings.
