Forged 383 Short Block
Up for sale is the motor out of the C5 that was totaled. It is in the car, but can be pulled in about a week, possibly much sooner.
LS1 block 3.905 bore
Eagle Crank
plasma moly rings (when i checked with TxSpeed where kit was bought from)
Eagle H-beam Rods
I think JE pistons
ARP rod bolts
GM MLS gaskets
Double Roller Timing set
Caddillac Racing Lifters
Hardened Pushrods
918 Springs
High Vol Oil pump
Cam is 240/244 .608/.612 on a 112
Heads are Patriot Performance Stg. 3 5.3L heads (when they had stage 3s)
Motor last dyno'd at 486/465 on stock throttle body/ls6 intake in a C5
On that dyno, we pulled it to 6500. I usually took it to 6800 on the street, it's a beautiful sound.
- in an fbody it made 495rwhp.
CR is high, 11.5 - 12.0 Runs fine on pump gas with current tune.
Will not come with an intake or oil pan.
Oil has always been changed on time using royal purp or mobil 1. Possibly tried a new synthetic as they came out every now and then. She drinks about .75 qt between oil changes.Performed all the work on it myself.
It's been a great motor and is still running good. 70-75K miles on it. About 15k miles ago my lifters started making noise so I went in and replaced them with the caddy lifters and ended up having to replace the cam too. At that time I also got the heads done with a 5 angle valve job at port pros (Chris from port pros). Also put in new head gaskets and lifter trays at that time. Everything looked great when I was in there.
Pulled the headers Saturday, so I took a video of it running w/ temp/oil pressure. The oil pressure didn't get below 35 then, but in 105* heat last summer in rush hour traffic I saw about 30.
Im aware mileage is high, but it runs damn good, there are good parts in it and could be put in a car and ran for a good bit more, or have the bearings freshened up. Had the vette not gotten hit I was about to spray a 150-250 wet shot which is what it was built to run (512) 773-9968
$3700 obo

Heads have sold off of the motor.
Shortblock still for sale $2700 obo
If I keep the cam/lifters $2300
Forgot to list that shortblock has ASP underdrive pulley.
I have pics I can email. Pistons look incredible for mileage.

Unsure of the specs on the pistons, they have about -2 cc valve dish for valves.
Rods are 6.125
Not sure if block was decked. Running 7.4 pushrods, so probably not.
Order # from Texas Speed for the stroker kit was #4340

Sean Currie I believe did the assembly. This was his personal motor in his camaro. When he decided to sell it I jumped at the chance. I can remember the first time I heard this thing idle at bone daddies parking lot. Sorta like the beginning to "hot for teacher"
