That's not entirely correct.

94 and up
Rated for 450ft/lbs
1st 2.66
2nd 1.78
3rd 1.30
4th 1.00
5th 0.74
6th 0.50

93 with 2.73 rear
Rated for 400 ft/lbs
1st 3.36
2nd 2.07
3rd 1.35
4th 1.00
5th 0.80
6th 0.62

93 with 3.23 rear
Rated for 400 ft/lbs
1st 2.97
2nd 2.07
3rd 1.43
4th 1.00
5th 0.80
6th 0.62

Need to know what car it came out of to be sure of ratios.

I'm more concerned with the the fact that 93's are weaker than 94's and up.

yes weaker ...but not weak ... to many guys dont understand that lol

every t56trany shop i talked to said for a drag car the 93 still takes a beaten around 400 rwhp...... for a dd you wont have any issues. I have seen them on plenty of bolt ons and nitrous cars.

my issue is my motor will probably (hopefully) make 400 + all motor plus 200-300 shot... so i do need a better platform

Yes, thats correct. It often gets over-exaggerated. Just because the input gear teeth width are about 10% less than the 94-02 style doesn't make it "weak"
Gear breakage is actually VERY rare in any T56. So it's not really a problem. I actually converted a 93 T56 to work in my a 425RW LS1.
Also, the factory ratings don't mean much. They are very conservatively rated and can handle a lot more. 94-02 is good for 650, and 93 is good for about 550.

About the two different gear ratio sets in 93, the 2.97 (M29) first is by far the most common. I've never even seen a 3.36 geared T56 (M28). So chances are that his trans is a 2.97

I believe it would have to be a no **** 1LE car to have a T56/3.23 combo.
