Default Renaissance Festival - Worth going?

I'm thinking about going to the renaissance festival tomorrow for the first time. Is it any good or a waste of money?

I enjoyed it when I went, but I guess it all depends on what you expect out of it.

It is fun, more fun if you drink plenty of beer.

My British Literature class went and my professor was cool with everyone drinking so it made for a better time. You have to have a bit of a kid outlook on it, but it's still pretty entertaining. The biggest thing I noticed was the fact that women use this as an excuse to cram their rack into a corset and show them to everyone...not a bad day at all. If you go with a positive attitude, you'll leave happy. It was corny, but a good time for the most part.

This is true. Then you also have some that wear the chain mail bikini outfits. Be prepared to quickly avert your eyes if you see them because the guys wearing loin cloths will be near. Bastages ruin the view.

There used to be a guy that dressed Scottish that walked around and you could pay him to insult people. He'd follow them around and talk **** to them.

Then there was the crazy fish monger chick that carried a trout around talking to it. She followed and harassed my bro-n-law which I found quite humorous.

The raptor shows are always cool too, IMO

My gf talked me into going to it next weekend. I've never been but she said its pretty cool. Either way there will be plenty of drinking going on so it can't be too bad!

I went several years ago. It was definitely "different". IMO it is lame, but to each his own.

Lol, I was a chain mail girl last year And I must say, corny or not, it was fun as HECK! People always wanted to take pics with us; we were like part of the show. Only thing I didn't like is that if you do chainmail, they make you dance on stage for the chainmail show. And yeah..that show is adults only..it gets crazy (Some of the chainmail girls take off their skirts/pants and just wear undies and chainmail). But once my girlfriend and I polished off a bottle of mead or two, everything was fun! (By the way, mead FTMFW!)

Walking around in chainmail + drinking all day = win.

And yes.. sometimes you get a flash of man cleavage ...I will agree that is just wrong!

And I have come up with a special term just for the wenches in corsets at Fair. "Renfaire Boobies!" So now any time any of my pals that were at renfaire are hanging out, outside of fair, and we some some uber cleavage, we say "Hey look! She's got renfaire *****!". Those puppies look like they're trying to hop the fence!

Yes. Fair is awesome, if you like booze and epic *****.

It's important to project your imagination onto the landscape. That way, you will get the most out of the characters, sets and shops. It's a ton of fun if you can get lost in the world that the fair is able to create.

Oh, and make sure you have plenty of cash on hand; you don't want to get caught having to use their ATM's.
