Exclamation Any aluminum welders that can help me weld up a wheel?

Hey whats up guys, anyways im in need of a welder that can weld on aluminum. I have a CCW wheel that has stress fractures about 1 inch long and air is getting out and I need all ten of the fractures weldded up while I wait for a new wheel drum to come in. I have to put air up my tire twice a day and its my on daily driver

I wouldn't recommend welding a forged aluminum wheel, the heat will affect the wheel.

werd. With aluminum the welding may seal up the crack but it will decrease the strength!

Go have the tire taken off, mask off the outside and inside of the rim with cardboard disks to keep over spray off and coat the inside of the rim with rubber undercoating. I read a popular hotrodding, or some gear head article about porosity in certain forged aluminum and cast wheels and this is a cheap and permanent solution. seals up any tiny holes where air can escape. I know you said your had cracks but hell if your still driving on it might as well stop it from leaking for now.

I'll let you borrow a set as long as you don't make 10 fractures on them

Thanks guys, im not looking at this as a final solution to my problem.... its more like a one to two week bandaid while the new wheel drum comes in from CCW. I don't have a spare tire and filling up a tire two to three time every day is driving me NUTS! As of now im running my BFG drags in the rear, one of my rear 335 wide 18by 11 1/2 in the front and the othere good wheel infront. I would of ran the drags infront but there too tall and the 335 is slowly rubbing on the inner plastic when I turn

I have welded up two forged aluminum wheels. One on an S4 that sees track days, no problems after over a year, DPE I think. And one fikse FM5 off a Vette. No problems there either.

i looked in the phone book and called up a welder for the same thing.. he did a great job completely grinding the entire crack out and built it up again with the rod.. sanded it smooth and polished it up. you'd never know.. i use them for my dragstrip tires. (nothing serious.. nitto 555's) it was a few years back and charged probably $60. but that was one crack..
