I feel your pain. I'm in Colorado Springs right now at a machine shop. Haven't heard anything good about drilling around here. I think we're gonna end up coming back to Houston, get my fiance through school, then I'll go back and get a degree. Gonna take a few more years and a few more cases of Ramen, but I guess it's the best bet in the long run. *sigh*

I might have missed it being mentioned but you might check into www.rigzone.com, that is usually a good starting point for offshore work. There are companies still hiring just from talking to people last month I was offshore, it's just getting your application out there and follow up with a phone call. I was just talking to a guy who worked for CETCO services and he had spent close to two months offshore because they were so spread thin and didnt have enough employees.

You do not need to work physically on drilling and extraction. There are a lot of other positions available at the oil rigs, such as engineers, doctors, etc.

My brothers place has been hiring. If you live in the Deer Park area then go to gojohnson.com and take the test.

Lubrizol is the one hiring and you can make over 100k easy after 5yrs, top pay after 5yrs is almost 40/hr. But they do batch processes so it's different than continuous process.

The Oil and Gas Field is where the money is at and plenty of places are hiring or will be. Just got to know where to look.

I used to too, in LaPorte. Thankfully I got the hell away from there. Hopefully when I get enough experience I can get a transfer to Colorado.

I just noticed the day of the original post, I quit my job on the oil rig. . . Premium Drilling folded 2 months later. . .
