Why should I move to Texas

But yeah, Houston is home of the high hp cars, but traffic is SO bad, you'd be lucky to even USE the power. I lived in Arlington for a while, and it was nice, other than the fact that the area I lived in had too many big bumps in the road... Not too friendly on F-bodies.
Grapevine was VERY nice though. I think you would seriously like it out there.
As for my Spanish speaking ability - I don't really have any. I also am not too concerned considering how much presence there is as DC. We have quite a large Hispanic demographic (albeit, more of a South American background than literal Mexican).

There are 3 REALLY bad things though:
1) Many Texans are NOT laid back...they think TX is the only place that matters on the planet and if you weren't born AND raised there AND share EVERY belief/opinion you are not good enough. There are TONS of nice people but the bad seeds give them a terrible name. I'm sure several people might even get stirred up by my saying so but sadly it's not uncommon.
2) it's close to mexico and you can tell, enough said...I hate spanish
3) lots of people can't drive or just don't care to do so properly...get full coverage w/uninsured motorist coverage on your cars if you care about them (speaking from experience there...sometimes even if the people have insurance it's junk stuff that will try to dick you)
Aside from those 3 things everything else is pretty great IMO, and the last 1 is going to be true of nearly any large city.
As far as the Hispanic population goes (and since I currently live in the DC area like you do). Hispanics are MUCH more integrated and easier to work with in Texas than DC. Its worlds of difference.
Texas is just the kind of state where there is ALWAYS something to do and always some kind of hobby or activity to get into. Land and homes are cheap to please the woman in your life.
As soon as I'm financially ready to live on my own (or when my parents decide to realize how much of a shithole the area we live in is) I will be moving back to the Lone Star State.
The roads are actually nice. I mean the pavement. As you know, you can't go 30 feet here without a pothole that could hold a small child. This is opposite on the roads outside of the big cities in Texas. It makes for amazing weekend cruises.
So, for now, we're going to be staying in the north east. I'm reluctant to give up, but she's worth it.
Thanks everyone!
