great, experienced, tuner in the dfw area???
Hey fellas, I live here In the north side of fort worth and I am getting ready to do my head, cam, intake, etc swap and the plan was to take it to ED wright up in tulsa, He has an excellent reputation, and has come highly recommended, and as much as a good tune costs I want to make sure it is done right the first time. The only downside is the long trailer trip up to him. So I was curious if there might be anyone closer, like in the DFW area, I am not talking about a buddy, or a guy my buddy knows, who has HP tuners kinda thing, I am looking for a real dyno tuner with plenty of experience that can dial my car in when I put this stuff on it. I dont want a mail order tune for this because it is a custom ground cam, specd out for my setup.
I know about RPM in lewisville and have never had any experience with them but have read a few bad things about them so I am kinda leary,,dont know anyone who has personally dealt with them, so they could be a maybe.
I also know about extreme horsepower here in NRH, and Ill pass on that one.
So how bout it, anyone know of some PROVEN LS1 gurus in my area????
any help would be appreciated.
thanks guys

I've heard some good things about Simple Quick Racing in Ft.Worth, but I'd go to Ed Wright. He did mine and I couldn't be happier. Ed has talked to me over the phone and through email since I was there and has helped me with several other things. It's definately worth the trip to Tulsa. Go to Ed Wright. Do it once, and be done. Just my opinion.

Simple Quick is the only place I will ever have any muscle car tuned at for as long as Im doing this, or till they stop doing it. They have an in ground dyno as well. And they are the closest to u.

ya, lol theres nothin wrong with shaner, yes he may be cautious about his tunes but he knows his ****. hes tuned my car for over 2 years now. id like to see a shop spend as much time as shaner spends on his cars for one flat rate price. any time of day.

Ed Wright spent from 8:30 in the morning until almost 6 that evening on my car. One set price, and has helped me through email and over the phone with other issues for free. If someone needs more time than that, they don't know what they are doing. Most of the shops I have been to try to tune several cars in one day. Ed tunes only 1. I also know several places in DFW alone that when they run into problems, they call Ed Wright. This is why I say spend a little more, make the trip, and have it done right the first time.

I don't know of a shop in dfw that don't spend 2-3 days on a tune. It's pretty much the standard. You simply can not nail down a tune in a single 8 hour day if the cam has been changed. If you want it to idle perfect in every condition it takes time. I don't call Ed Wright for anything ,never have and I've tuned over 500 cars.

I know a shop that will spit a tune out in half a day. It'll be under powered and they'll blame the dual 3" exhaust, and it'll idle horribly or just die on you and then they'll blame the cam that they spec'ed. That shop is XHP. Stay away from them.
For a shop that does a good tune, I'd also suggest SQR. Their tune was a huge improvement over what XHP called a tune.
