At my dealership the vehicles are drained of all oil and liquid glass is then poured into the motor and idled until the motor stops, but from what im told is they go to the auction and are sold to the highest bidder for parts. Not crushed

yea. got to talking with a sales manager as to why the people are doing this to perfectly fine vehicles and what theyre paying for them. turns out about 80% of the people doing this have no means of coming up with downpayment and this is their only way of getting into a new car . and most of them barely even make financing with anywheres between a 480-530 fico score. whats even worse is the most they have paid out on a single car so far has been about 3000$ with most averaging 750-1700$ its still depressing to think of the condition some of the cars were in that are going to be destroyed. one of the f-bodies only had 73000 miles on it

Thats what I thought too. I keep hearing stories of people trading in "nice cars" but don't recall seeing any of them that actually qualify.

Terrible. Someone go steal those fbody's from the lot and part them out before they are destroyed. It's a shame they cant be scrapped, it's hard enough as it is to find decent shaped used parts. New parts are so damn expensive.

think thats horrible ? watching em go into the shredder is even worse. its like watching your own dog get run over! what kills me about this is all of a sudden the guys trading in these trucks think the bottom dollar should be 4.500$ for a 93 v6 1500 silverado with 200k miles on it. seems like that rebate has everyone brainwashed

I was actually laughing at how sure he was of his statement. I couldn't possibly care less for his political opinion.
