Anyone here collect old currency?
I sold some stuff to a guy locally and he paid me with a 1950 $100 bill. I took it to the bank and they did confirm that it is real and not a counterfeit. I thought this was a pretty rare find, but I don't know the first thing about collecting money or how much it is worth.
Anyone have an expertise in this matter or could point me in the right direction? I have done quite a bit of searching online and can't come up with much information on how much it is worth or who I could sell it to.

Don't have any pics, but it is from the Washington D.C. mint, distributed through the Bank of San Francisco and the serial number L01858632A. I have never seen money this old and was very suprised that it does not say "In God We Trust" on it.
Edit: Forgot to mention that it does not have a sinle tear or rip. It does have a couple of fold marks from being in someone wallet. The ink is in extremely good condition with no fading.

Thanks for the offer, but I will hold onto it for a while unless someone offers me a fair amount. I was able to find a website where a collector answers questions about old coin and currency value and found his value of 1950 $100 bills ranging from $175 up to $3500, depending on the serial number and varioous misprints on the bill.

its worth 100bux.... if you wanna hang onto for a long time out of pref then do it... found this under google
"IN GOD WE TRUST didn't appear on any US paper money in 1950. I hope you didn't spend very much."
Here is the story from the US Treasury...
"A law passed by the 84th Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by the President on July 30, 1956, the President approved a Joint Resolution of the 84th Congress, declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States. IN GOD WE TRUST was first used on paper money in 1957, when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate. The first paper currency bearing the motto entered circulation on October 1, 1957. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) was converting to the dry intaglio printing process. During this conversion, it gradually included IN GOD WE TRUST in the back design of all classes and denominations of currency."

My grandpa has 10 $5 bills that were accidentally produced with red ink for the serial numbers and seal. He got them a long time ago. The bank tried contacting him numerous times trying to get them back, and he kept saying no. Supposedly they are worth a LOT of money.

I have a 1950 50$ bill given to me by my Grandmother. I'd hold onto it. Face value is only 100$ like the smarts asses say. However, the value collector side may be different. A reputable coin shop may be able to help value it better. The fact that it has no tears or rips makes it very unique. I'd at least hold onto it. 100$ really is nothing these days.
I should know, I've paid 5$ for a penny one time, what a loser. (1943 Steel Lincoln "S" Mint)

My dad had (3) $1 Silver Certificates from the 1930's in mint condition. He got them by accident from a bank. He gave my sis 1, and I got the other 2. Unfortunatly, my dumbass lost my wallet with both of them in there the following week. I later received another one at work from a paying customer. I put it in my pocket and that night I went to the club and lost it there. I think my sister has a $5 silver certificate too. I do have some silver quarters and dimes that i received in change, dont know if they are worth anything tho.

In the newspaper, a while back, there was a fake "1,000,000 Bill". I put it on display at work along with some different currency. Well someone broke in at night and stole the fake bill, some beer, and some chips w/salsa. Repairs were more than what he stole!
