Default will my car pass inspection with this?

well i need to get the sticker on my 93 honda accord. its a manual trans but the hand brake does not work. I just leave the car in 1st when i park it. other then that the car is fine. does not throw any codes or anything. it passed last year but that was before the hand brake went out. Will this effect it passing inspection? If so does anybody know a friendly inspection place in houston? thanks fellas

It "should" not pass with the e brake not working. Doesn't matter if its an auto or manual. Happened to me years ago with an auto. Now whether most shops check it, I don't know??? I go to the same place every year and all they do is hook it up to the computer. They don't check much else.

Bah, just carry a brick with you and shove it behind/in front of one of your tires. Tell 'em that's your e-brake.

How do you go about doing this? Mine lately has to be ALL the way up-practically 90 degree angle for it to keep the car from rolling.

On my Trans Am you can tightening the cables under the car that runs to the brakes. The wire would go from the e-brake and stop under the rear floor pans and had a loop on the end. Then there are two cables coming from each caliper that clamp into the one from the e-brake. Just loosen the little clamp things and pull the cable with some vise grips, hold it and tighten it.

I lost my bracket for one of my calipers like a dumb *** so I managed to rig it up for one caliper long enough to pass.

im an inspector. you will not pass with it like that unless either you know the guy or he is really lazy. none of those ideas will work beyond fixing it. we do still check for it.
