That's really not a fair comparison though. .22 caliber pistols are notorious for jamming, FTF's, FTE's, stovepipes, etc. I could say the same about my Beretta 9mm, it hasn't had a single hiccup in the 1500 rounds or so that I've put through it using all different brands and grains of ammo. I think just about any center fire pistol will reliably fire when needed. It really comes down to what is easier to conceal (if we're talking about a CCW) and what the user feels comfortable using. Anyways, good luck to the OP.

The most reliable gun is a revolver, period.

I am an Licensed gun dealer. It will greatly depend on what she is comfortable with. A light weight firearm that will fit in her purse is a plus. My wife carries a glock 19, and a kel-tec 32. She loves both of them. She always has immediate access to a glock 23 at work or at home. Training and understanding of how they work is extremely important and will give a lady a much better feel and confidence to use it. I 99% of the time convince a lady to buy a revolver. 38 special personal defense rounds that are 110 grains are great. They don't kick much and will do the job. They will not jam and are going to fire once the trigger is pulled. Most women do not go out an practice, therefor automatics are less desirable. My wife practices often and is very adapt at shooting and combat reloading.

Sorry to hijack, but do you happen to be licensed to sell in Texas? I would love a glock 19 for the wife, and a glock 23 for myself....What are those guns running as far as price these days?

I am in Georgia and only deal in used guns. I don't have either of those for sale. Price on glocks... Well dealer cost is around 440 to 450 on those models unless you get night sights or extras. Dealers usually want to make 50 to 100 on new guns. So 500 for a new one is fair. Used ones sell for around 50 bucks less than new ones. At least for my shop any way.
