Default considering gun for the wife

im trying to figure what caliber gun to get the wife, im leaning towards 9mm just for a light kick and more ammo, what are thoughts. My wife is 5"3 and 102lbs normall but preg now. im wanting to suprise her with this and plan on either getting a sig 226 or hk usp variant. i like the idea of my wife atleast knowing how to shoot and being able to defend herself if im not around

i teach all my lady friends and female family member at the range. i start them on .38 special then my taurus 9mm. they all love the 9mm more than the 38 spl due to being able to control the 9mm more with larger handle.

a sig 226 will be too big of a gun for her hands, she'll need a sig 239 or 229

I have a S&W airweight 38 sp for sale, but it kicks like a mule, I damn near drop it after the 1st shot

Magnum research desert eagle for the win. JP

I was really impressed by a ruger LCP .380 that a guy was showing me. I think its a 7 shot with one in barrel, and it weighs like 12 ounces or something crazy like that.

Awesome little gun, would fit in a pocket or a purse

I'm 5'5, 115lbs and like my hubby's ruger 9mm, but I personally sleep with a 357 revolver in my bedside dresser

For a small'ish 9mm....I like the G 26. I also have a HK USPc (though it hasn't left the safe in months).

IMO guns will feel different depending on the person and I think it's best to have her hold a few and see what see likes. If you find one she likes then you can suprise her and buy it

Another vote for a Kahr PM9 or a P9. It's small, light, respectable caliber and recoil isn't bad.

[QUOTE=FIREHAWK #07;12226107]Glock 19 (9mm)

+1 on this, or a Beretta 9mm. There's a reason people refer to them as "cop guns". They have stopping power, decent ammo amounts, and very low kick.

I was on the glock .40 cal though and the clips were kinda hard to load on it, although the glock itself was an amazing gun. Very very reliable gun though, I don't think I ever saw it misfire or jam after 300+ rounds in the firing range at my parents house. And it also stayed pretty cool to the touch after all that considering all the ammo that just went through it.

GLOCK FTW

the Beretta 92, or the Taurus equiv. pt92/99 is a good choice because of the slide
is easy to rack. My five foot nothing woman just got one (Taurus PT99) after trying many many guns. The sig 239 9mm is a good compact for small framed women too.

cant go wrong with a glock 9mm, if you want a gun you KNOW will fire no matter what, then get a glock, fired about 500 rounds through my .40 cal without one jam, picked up a sig mosquito .22 cal and it jammed on the 3rd shot. do yourself a favor and know when you **** that gun it will fire. get a glock

id suggest a revolver of some type........no reason for her not to be ready to shoot. no having to charge the pistol. also no chance of stoppages with a revolver.
