You guys ever heard of SNL up by Dallas? Sure it's not in League City but it's only a few hours away. I'll be getting a cam with dual springs, tune and udp for 1650. And i'll be traveling over 9hrs to do it.
I'll be getting the first one but at 200 more.

As stated in Post #14 it can be done but it is going to require some work on your side. You can not hold the installer responsible for part failure due to using used parts.
Best bet is to save up some more money so that you can get the install done properly.

i wouldve gladly paid 300 dollars for you to do my cam/head swap for me in my garage. Hell, just to tq headbolt #8 on the heads. Instead i've slacked and taken a week to get to where I'm at now. Things left are swaybar, fluid changes and headers left to put on.
Wanna do a clutch in a vette for 250?

Ya 300 dollars is cheapp.. Idk. Personally i dont think all the work of cam/spring swap is worth $300. But i might be a little bias since i have a full shop accessible to me..

There is a guy putting ad's on dallas C/L that for 900 you get cam, springs, puahrods, install and a tune. Make an appt, and you are in and out. Dont think I would deal with just anyone, but I guess its an option if you are cheap.
I helped a friend do a cam in his truck and I have to say, this is the easiest motor to swap cams in Ive ever seen. Pull the cam without taking the intake off, that cool as hell. In a car, err, thats tight. I'd pay someone, lol. I hope there is more room for an LS in an S10 or Im going to hate my project.

^^i know that guy on craigslist. his name's kyle. he's using ls1 hotcams and ls7 springs for that price. if you want a bigger cam, comp/patriot springs, etc. the price goes up. definitely not a bad installer though. $900 also includes him tuning it with his HP Tuner. it's a damn good deal for those on a tight budget.

I personally would get a good stall converter and a tune now. It'll make the car feel like a whole different animal and a lot more fun to drive, then you will have a lot better cam selection for when you get ready to make the jump. If you swap to a cam that is much larger than stock, it's gonna be a turd IMO. Be careful on cam selection if you do the cam swap first.

haha i think it might have to be a little more than $250 to do that considering how much crap has to come off.

on going rate is $250-$300 from private locals, most of these guys can knock that out in 3-4hrs, so $60-$75/hr is not bad..... it will at least cost you $1300 with everything.... i know an installer in League city if you are interested send me a pm...

i dunno, i can be at work for a few hrs, or be in the garage doing what i like for a few hrs and make $300.... sounds about right to me. but i'll gladly charge $400 if it'll make yall feel better about the work, lol. i would however spend the money on the tune. that will make or break how happy you are with your setup. not saying that there aren't guys who can do it at the house and be very good at it (i know a few....) but if you find it on craigslist, thats probably where they belong. g-force/lmr are proven to be good, and you get that cool dyno sheet with it, lol

You also get a tune by someone who just started tuning cars last month.
Sounds like a good deal to me!
