As far as I know, the Cummins 6.7 is just a 5.9 with more cylinder bore and piston stroke upping the cubes to 408. The only difference is the 6.7 has all the emissions BS (EGR and EGR Cooler, DPF, etc.).

I blocked off my egr and deleted the DPF. It was good for about 4mpg.

gotcha...thats probably why ive heard theyre "junk" but every new diesel is going to have stupid emissions crap. mileage was the big complaint actually so thats probably the only reason.

i know our gas truck will actually tow over 10k pounds. gotta love strapping on big *** loads of hay. i can't stand those dropped heavy duty trucks...kinda kills the point of owning one haha

Not when done right!

All of the trucks have had DPFs since '07/'08+. They are a pain in the ***** when you're towing and it kicks into Regen mode. If you're not dead in the water, you're damn close depending on what youre towing.

werd, DPF/DOC delete was the best thing for my truck.

Like ross mentioned I picked up 4-5mpg as well.

Damn!

I'm thinking about going with a 6" suspension lift with 37's. It would put me 6" higher than I am now. Right now, I only have a leveling kit which raises the front end 2". I am running 33" tires.

I would have to say GM has the worst interiors as in the 07 back style. When you push on the dash the whole thing creaks and is just so cheap. The Dodge interiors(08 back) are kinda bland but don't feel as cheap. Like when I press on the dash the whole thing doesn't yell back at me. The Fords are ok but it doesn't feel right and I don't like them. The new F250's are great, nothing bad to say about them but I have only been in one. The new Chevy's are really nice too, great interior. Dodge definitely takes the cake though, they are amazing inside and drive very nice. The new Chevy's drive nice too, way ahead of the old style. I drove an 05 F150 in driving school and hated everything about it. The steering was too jerky and was just akward to drive. The older chevy's were a little jerky too while the Dodge's drive nicely.

Sorry for the horrible sentence structure, just deal with it lol..

i dont like big rims on diesels... unless it's jacked up like that black one... i like a big sidewall with big side lugs on the tire to grip the mud, not that i need that cause i dont but i like to play around in it un-neccasarley... lol

EDIT: even those are too big, the sidewalls are too small for that big *** truck

Problem with lifting a diesel is purpose of one goes right out the window. Towing...that's the only reason that I see justification for a diesel besides the cool sound.

If you go crazy with a lift, it will affect towing, but I see guys out at camp sites all the time with 6" lifts and big tires towing their 30+ foot 5th wheels and bumper pull RVs. A lot of the guys with regular sized lifts actually notice an improvement in ride quality because they upgrade to better shocks than stock (Bilsteins) when they install the lift.
As far as pulling car haulers, all you have to do is get a hitch ball mount with a longer drop.

The setup I am thinking about won't look obnoxious. Check this one out. It has the exact setup I want. 6" lift with 37" tall tires.

That's my point it doesn't.
When you raise the truck that much and the wheels are way too big the truck simply won't have enough power to drive it normally while towing.

New diesels are crap for the aftermarket. 4 cats and double egr systems. Plus urea unjection that you have to fill up every 10-20k miles. Audi diesels already incorporate urea injection and you have to refill it ever 10k. IF you run out the vehicle with cease to function. New diesels make good power stock but unless you want to remove all you emissions equiptment to make good power and get some gas milage back, stick with pre-DPF trucks. Ive got a 2008 6.7 and its ok but my 2006 5.9 felt much faster and got 3-4 mpg better with 35's than my 6.7 did stock.

What did you use to block the other side of the egr? Did you remove the whole assembly or did you just remove the cross over pipe and put a block off over the opening. I have read alot about the emissions removal but going to wait a while since it has warranty and it not my daily....yet.
