Nice stock numbers, but a Dodge will do those numbers with a tuner on the low (tow) setting. GM simply made the very minor tweeks from the factory.
Honestly, if I was buying brand new right now, I'd probably go with the Ford. I'm sure the 2011 Dodge will be rated right up there with Ford and GM.
Here's my weak *** tuned Dodge (Mega Cab 4x4) on the highway. Notice, the mph needle shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. I had to let off because of traffic in front of me.
Not bad for a truck that weighs nearly 4 tons.

to tell you the truth I'm impressed ford finaly stepped it up in the cubes. That 6.2 L looks pretty strong (talking about the gas varient).
Is Chevy still going to produce a smaller half ton diesel? They said it would produce about 150-200 less torque, at 300 hp, with a 30% fuel economy improvment. Think all 3 are proposing one next year. Would be good for me b/c the most towing I do is my car, or my Mastercraft x2. Don't really need 750 ft lbs. of torque for that. Not old enough to get a 5th wheel.

GM has an upper hand with its Allison Trannys, but dodge has the Cummins/Aisin combo. I am a GM fan, but if i were getting a diesel truck, it'd probably be a Cummins. Ford builds their own drivetrains, that would steer me away from them.

Those are great numbers for stockers! All of them are great choices now, I remember when they all sucked and you just got the one with the best benefit for what you need, cummins was fuel mileage and torque, chevy was interior and tranny, and ford was work truck with big cube diesel(7.3). Now they are all prety even, just down to who you like better. We are ordering some new 2010 Rigs at work, high HP #s and better fuel mileage all around. Crazy the new emissions are making the motors more efficent (sp?) and still making more hp & torque.

You must also keep in mind they are comparing the above trucks in the (payload comparison only) to the F-450. Which is actually catagorized as a medium duty truck. A comparable F350 is in the 18k lb. range I believe.
My boss has the 6.4 in his F450 and it's so-so. It's had a turbo replacement, numerous other gremlins, and it's got 24k miles on it. Can't beat it in the looks department... Hopefully with the newly designed FORD engine they will solve all the issues they've had since '04 with the 6.6/6.4 International diesels.
His previous '04 Chevy 3500 pulled our 48' trailer slightly worse, better mileage, and brakes were sub par.
IMO they are all pretty competitive. F450 is a no brainer if you don't want to step up to a toter home/International/F650

What I have read, a lot of heavy pulling for the fords is forcing some head stud issues, but nothing some ARP replacements seem to be fixing the problems. beyond that and the eventual failure of EGR.

Ok I will always stick with the 7.3l as I love those. But if I were to go with a new one it would be the dodge...I love them all, but the dodge has better space in the back seat and it just seems so badass. However, the new 6.7l from ford looks awesome. I was at the Dallas auto show this past weekend and I was looking at it and they went with a cam in block pushrod engine...I was pretty impressed--made me think that they were almost going for something like the old 7.3.
