I have always been a GM guy, but the new mustang IMO looks better than the new camaro, and the Challenger takes them both. Talking prices i would take the Mustang for the best bang for the buck. Technology is technology, when gm decides to put direct injection into the ls based motors then that will change the tide again. Im with some people on the dual overhead motors, they are more time consuming to work on than your tipical engine, but thats not a porblem for the people that like to wrench on their own **** anyway. I wouldnt mind owning a new mustang but not the GT, ill take the one witht the lil snake on it. lol

I still don't get the whole stock for stock argument. This has been overplayed since I have been an enthusiast. When you look at it, how many of us keep our cars stock anyways?
I will give credit where credit is due, the new 5.0 is appealing, and I have seen some fast *** 4.6 3v's and 2v's at the track. But I have already been told more than once that the new 5.0 will have more power than my ls1 with less cubes. All by guys who don't even own one. To me, it's no big deal, the SS is paid off, and will soon have either an aluminum 383, or a iron 408.
I would love to see a new 5.0 with a twin screw in an SN95 style. I just can't get into the whole retro look.
Are the Gt's finally going to get a 6speed? Paying 35 grand for a moderately optioned out GT with a t45 just doesn't seem right.
+1 on the challenger statement, car just seems complete off the showroom. Just can't get over the +4000 lbs. for a two door.

Lol. Close. It's more sofisticated. The vtec I believe only controlled the exhaust port. The ti-VCT which is in the new 5.0 controls both the intake and the exhaust.

This is true. Cams will cost $1200. This car will really wake up with an agressive tune. Some tuners feel that with a tune alone the can get 450 rwhp!! I think that's on the healthy side. I believe that cams, ported heads, tune and bolt ons will get 500 rwhp N/A. Plus the engine is forged from the factory. So add that with a healthy shot of nitrous we will have some mean cars rolling around... I need 10k.

That will be the day, i admit the motor makes power, but i am in belief it is strapped from the factory, i dont think it has room to grow like the larger 6.2, but i could be wrong, but as i have seen, on 93 octane, engines dont get much more than 1.5 HP per cube NA. The 6.2 can manage close to 500 RWHP but that has cubes.
Either way, i will be glad to call the mustang an American car again since they finally gave her some guts again.

thast pretty cool that they are forged from the factory... im with zones89rs, i wanna see how they respond to mods and a tune... if they are like the old 2v then, poor mustang guys... not that they will be as slow as they are now but the fact that it's not worth doing bolt ons...

Well, this motor is light years ahead of the old 2v, but since it comes with headers and the power is up there so far with the small cubes, i just dont see astonishing gains with mods, all of the mods together yes, but a bolt on here and there, i just dont see much.

No one is affraid. It was bound to happen. Competition drives the market. The engine already has a 80mm tb I believe, shorty headers and a "tuned" intake manifold (basically it's port matched). There is still room to grow. Udp, 4:10 gears, aluminum ds, intake, new plenum, Longtubes, tune.. Etc. I think this is the little engine that thinks it can and actually can. We shall see. This is good news for Government Motors.
