U LUZ's (John) wife got arrested the other day in Alvin for no front plate and no proof of insurance. They have insurance, but their card had just expired and they hadn't put the new one in the glove compartment yet.

John was out a couple of hundred bucks to bail her out, 2 tickets, a tow fee, and his wife had their little dog with her, so it was taken to the city pound. He had to pay a fee to get the dog out. That's some really messed up BS if you ask me.

So how did this end up OP? If you're still around.

I don't think cops should be able to arrest you for a class C unless you have priors. If they do, they should have to pay you for the time they hold you.

Wow! Does Alvin PD have nothing better to do? I would be pretty pissed off!

Three weeks ago a got arrested for running a red light. I was going 35 mph and didn't really run the light that bad. Also it was real early in the morning and nobody was on the road I was on. All of my stuff was up to date and was not rude at all. I got arrested and booked and was in jail for over a hour. I am glad I know people and got me out of jail. I got everything droped and did have to pay 200 for the ticket. After my buddy talked to the cop that arrested me, we was scared and just keep saing he was sorry. The other shitty part was I pulled over in a towing lot service and they charged me a 170 to tow my truck and all they did was just drive it 15 yards around back. Man I was so pissed!

**** man all the SAPD cops I've met were cool as hell. Don't EVER speed in Schertz. You will get pulled over and given a ticket . they are just as bad as Selma used to be.
So far the Schertz and Selma cops have been really cool. When I moved over here I was a bit nervous. Hell they have even waved at me and I don’t have my front plate in the up position. I don't speed and I stop at all the damn stop signs, no California rolling stops...

I believe it is 14.01 of the CCP in the state of Texas, "A peace officer can arrest for ANY offense committed in their presence or view" And the open container and speeding is stated as non jailable elsewhere, as or the search of the vehicle, it is a search/inventory incident to lawful arrest. Legal all day, LOL.

There is a 5 day grace period for inspection.

A officer taking someone to jail for such a small infraction is just bored or has something against the individual unless they have someone above them telling them to take citizens to jail for minor offenses.

I have been pulled over in Webster a couple of times, and both times the officers were very polite, and let me go with a warning. Maybe its my handsome looks... I don't know.

You always have good stories. Planes attacking you on the beach and ****, getting arrested for nothing.
...2 years later...
Not maybe, it certainly was due to your boyish good looks.

Went to court, they dismissed all the tickets and I has to pay $40 in court cost and then they cut me a check for the rest of my bail money. Really a complete waste of time and city resources, but I moved out of that dump, so all is well!
