Default Who in Houston can install a cam?

I remember seeing a bunch of people post up on here about installing cams on the side. I'm about to get some money, and was interested in having a cam installed, then having G-force tune my car.

So who all can install cams that REALLY know what they're doing? I'm just weighing my options right now, since I might just pay alot more and have G-force do it all.

Just go with them ^^^^^^ and get it done right the first time. I know there are folks that can do it no problem but then there are some that might mess something up, and might end up costing you more in the long run.....

haha me and greg were just talking about stuff like this.

take it to the pros the first time and get it done right. cuz if you don't the mechs at g-force are gonna be wheeling your car in out of the shop for 2 weeks till they figure out what to do/get the parts in and get it back to you. but i mean if you want to waste your time and money go for it, i'm sure g-force will be happy to oblige you....for a price.

Hm...you guys should have a "welcome summer" cam-install special...or something...

I've got a couple vehicles that could stand to use a bit of thump.

Just sayin

well i'm looking at the bill for my cam package and i can tell you there is not much to shave off their price. i do know that TSP has come down on their prices since i did mine. they might shave off a little labor, maybe a little off of the tune, but other than that i doubt they would do it for much less than 1800. idk i could be wrong, i did have them do an oil pump while they were in there, not sure how much extra in labor they charged me.

but there aint **** you can do about parts cost, or tax, and their mechanics don't work for free.

just wait for mike to chime in and see what he says.

I did my own install, scared like a little girl. Got the car running though thanks to ls1how too. I am no pro, I did myself because I have no money I havennt worked since jan. If had the money I would of let gforce do it when they installed the diff engin. It took me about 10 hours, not fun. Now I just need a tune. If you do it good luck and have fun.

lol not going to name a shop... but you should definitely have it professionally done if you don't know how to do it yourself.

Mike just posted a cam special. He also has some "options" listed. Get the oil pump for sure. LMR will also do you a great job. Seeing your in Clear Lake, its a no-brainer, G-Force.

Well whatever I do, it will be in about a month. I'll have $8000 to blow, so I was thinking cam, heads, stall, & tune.

Some one doing stuff on the side can tell you to f*ck off a lot easier then a shop can, think about that for a second.

with that kind of budget. i would axe the ls1.
dropn in a lq4 with tsp heads, cam and supporting mods. and sell ls1.
the 6.0 would take more advantage of the new mods.

True but there are also a lot of shops out there that screw over the customer too (Not saying Gforce is one of them). The OP needs to do his homework on whomever he lets do the work on his car, does not matter if it is a shop or an individual.
