Pulling out of my Job in my work vehicle. I wasn't even 30 yards from my parking spot, and usually put my seatbelt on as I am pulling out. Watch out, HPD cops are on the lookout.

Well, I see they have them working as tax collectors right now!

Need to repeal this revenue-generating law.

Don't need to repeal it, need to enforce it more. Yes I should have the choice of wearing one or not, but as one cop pointed out to me: If I get into a wreck, my 165 pound body becomes a chunk of meat flying at 70 mph.

But on the OPs note, if you're still in your parking lot, there's not a whole lot they can do.

It's 150 in the city of Houston.

Nobody's fault except myself. It's a good law and I will be happy to pay the fine, just not happy about any points added to my record. I think that your record last for 3 years in Texas. I have 2 tickets in Texas(besides this) in 13 years of driving. I hope it doesn't effect my insurance rates.

I have a bad habit of strapping my seat belt on after I get the car moving, which is hard to break when you have been doing that for a while. The main reason is, I usually am doing other things when I get in my car with regards to my business, then I buckle up when I turn on to a main road. I just did it 15 seconds to late. Late enough, even at 15mph, to cause myself injury. I respect LEO's and what they do.

hope that ticket dont affect your job or anything
Thanks. But no, it will not, I own my own business during the school year and own my work car. I was leaving my summer job. I was on a public street, a few yards from where I was parked.

I actually feel if you have enough insurance coverage, it should be our chioce to wear a seatbelt or not to. Most fatal accidents on motorcycles are caused by not wearing a helmet and they get the choice. I pay my taxes and my insurance is up to date. Let me decide

BTW, I also have a motorcycle and I always wear a helmet!

Put your seatbelt on before you start your car. You won't get a ticket and you don't have to hear that stupid warning chime.

I drive a company vehicle as well and if I get caught without a seat belt its bye bye job time. I doubt it will ever happen as I drive a 2010 Tacoma and it screams like a McDonalds fry cooker when the fries are done.

Don't know about Texas, but in Virginia, it's not a moving violation, and it doesn't put any points on your license. Basically a state revenue generator. Fine is $25 or $30, but then you have to add the f'in $62 court costs, court or no court.

If you're an adult, it's your call whether or not you wear a seat belt. It's not the government's job to force you to wear a seat belt. Should you wear one? Yes, of course. Should children under 18 be required by law to wear one? Yes, of course. But as an adult, no. My freedom and liberty certainly includes my choice to wear a seat belt or not.

I couldn't agree more! I think this should apply to anything else that could ONLY harm yourself. If you don't wear a seatbelt and get hurt or killed because of that, then its your own damn fault. The state shouldn't be sticking their beak in.
At any rate, its just another source of income for the state.

I've had two friends die b/c they weren't wearing their seatbelt. One was at a result of the old Goodyear Explorer recall. He had no idea when the tire blew and flew through the windshield 50 feet from where the explorer rolled.

You can also injure other people in the car. Not to mention the anguish you would cause your family because you were too much of a badass to not wear a seatbelt.

I don't see the point in not wearing one. This isn't 1987. Cars' seatbelts are adjustable and pretty much perfectly comfortable to wear these days.
