Porsche GT3RS - What is it?
Saw this GT3RS in the parking lot of Smiley's Racing Products in Mesquite, Tx. Looked like a pretty fly ride. Haven't looked them up, what's the deal on them?

One of my customers has one. Just Googed it and found this:
In a nutshell, the 911 GT3 RS is a genuine racing car approved for the road. It's been formulated for demanding competition use with a special suspension, weight-saving components and large carbon-fiber wing spoiler.
Porsche makes this model available to the general public because racing requirements dictate it must sell a production version of the actual race car.
The all-new 911 GT3 RS features a new and more powerful 3.8-liter flat-six -- up from 3.6-liters last year, and now producing 450 horsepower. That figure is 15 horsepower up on the current GT3 and 35 horsepower more than the previous GT3 RS.
Porsche engineers also managed to improve the GT3 RS' handling, thanks to a specifically setup PASM suspension, wider tracks both front and rear and dynamic engine mounts that can change stiffness and damping effect to improve the connection between the engine and the car's body.
The new 911 GT3 RS also features a lower ride height, a large carbon fiber rear wing and a titanium exhaust system. For those looking to shed even more weight - 22 pounds to be exact - a lithium-ion battery can be ordered in the place the conventional lead-acid battery.
The 911 GT3 RS definitely stands out on the road in its five available paint colors: metallic silver or black, which come with contrasting orange accents. Also available are orange and green, which come with contrasting black accents. Carrera White is the final option and doesn't have a contrasting color.
Inside are highly bolstered racing seats upholstered in leather with suede-like Alcantara inserts. The steering wheel, gear **** and handbrake lever are also covered in Alcantara.
Its aerodynamically sculpted body is slightly wider but lightweight materials bring weight down by 44 pounds. This allows the RS to knock off a slightly faster zero-to-60-mph time of 4.0 seconds (just 0.1-seconds faster). Top track speed is identical at 193 mph.
The only transmission is a six-speed manual but, compared to the regular GT3, the RS's has a single-mass flywheel for higher racing loads.
Porsche Active Suspension Management and traction control are both standard. As expected, the brake system is also of the high-performance variety with Porsche's ceramic composite brakes as an option. The lightweight 19-inch wheels are RS-exclusive.
For measuring track performance, customers can opt for either Porsche's Chrono Package or more comprehensive Chrono Package Plus. These include a digital-analog gauge on the dashboard.
The 911 GT3 RS will hit the U.S. market in spring 2010 with a price tag of $132,800.

It is an amazingly serious 911 model intended for hardcore road course action.
They do offer a model with significantly more power, but this is still a car will lay waste to most street driven F-bods.

I'm sorry I'm not a fan of big red stickers all over my car. Espeically if the car cost 130k... Just my two cents... But hey if you like that then cool.
I never did once say that the only thing in this world is drag racing. I respect the guys and girls that can drive the **** out of cars.
Oh... And it's more like this site is close minded because people think everyone on here has an fbody with a lid, and flowmasters on it....

BTW, car may be awesome but the stickers don't do it justice.

Nope, sure don't...maybe one day I'll have an ls powered car.....
But what I do know, is that huge red stickers on the side of cars is pretty damn lame. Like I said before, if you like the big stickers than cool... I don't.

Funny how the history comes around. The same guy that owns the car that I posted about just bought the new 911 Sport Classic. Just arrived from Germany. It has the same wheels as the picture posted by "Powered by Satan" except black instead of red. Also has the same "ducktail" spoiler. Porsche is heavy into tradition. You would think the wheels would be some fancy billet, polished, etc. like on most cars today.

GT2RS > GT3RS ... I love both though. I am not a huge fan of the stickers either, but the RS follows along with a tradition of Porsche. As Xtreme said, the wing is there for REASON. All of the "race" style Porsche have "big" wings (GT2, GT2RS, GT3, GT3RS, Carrera GT, GT-1, etc..)

GT-1 (The Metzger motor origins which is what is what has been used in the watercooled 996/997 Turbos until this year (excluding the GT2RS which is a 3.6ltr GT-1 style motor)).
The 997 GTRS (Currently the Ring Record Holder for a stock car)
The 997 GT2
The 996 GT2
The 997 GT3
The 996 GT3
The Porsche Carrera GT
The Carrera GT's wing actually comes up although it looks down in these pictures.
I'm really bored so I figured I'd post
