It's settled then, we need to take him to the track to show him how fast his so called "Chipped" GTI is once he buys it. OP, imperial07, and me against his GTI at the racetrack.

 

No problem, I will be going the LS1 F-body/Vette route next year but it's always good to know what you're getting into no matter what kind of car you're competing against.

 

thats was exactly my problem
i didnt know anything about these cars
and i haven't been to a track in a very long time
last winter season? so in my head i was like well it might be possible
because i didnt know the turbo size or engine size and etc.

Not trying to offend any Best Buy employees....check out the car audio area and talk to some of those people....jeez....

 

Both of the installers at our local best buy drive 400+awhp sti's lol. APR Tuning does make some pretty incredible gains with just there chipsets but it doesnt take a high 14 low 15 car into the 11's. However I have seen mid 2000's model GTI's reach into the 11's with a turbo and intercooler upgrade, meth injection, and a tune.

 

I had some guy doing something similar.... said he had a fast rx-7. said he ran 10s. He was arrogently confident as well. I ended up finding out he was talking 1/8 mile. i run 11s in 1/4 (street tires) so i told him i knew i was going to lose i just wanted to see how well i kept up with a 10 second car. Yeah it was murder.

Nice too meet you too sir, and yeah your WS6 is very noticeable. As far as I know I've only seen two in Brownsville, yours and a convertible one.

 

Here is the pic of the only other WS6 in Brownsville that I know off, but it might just be a rebadged trans am because it has a sleek beak hood instead of the WS6 Ram air one.

As was stated earlier... 1.8T chip from most tuners (APR, GIAC, Neuspeed) raises the HP from ~175hp to ~220hp (using info for the 2002MY as I drive an 02 Passat 1.8T). Ive been wanting to do that for sometime but every time I get ready to purchase a chip something breaks on the car.

Also, you gain more HP tuning a 1.8/2.0T over the N/A V6.
