Pull your valve covers and check your springs. I broke a spring and it acted very similar to what you're describing.

Have u messed with ur intake? check if the bolts are lose,if u ever changed it before might wanna check if any gaskets are missing, when I changed my intake at first wasn't getting a good seal, it would idle really high and wouldn't stay on without my foot on the pedal , my intake was sitting on the little vacuum line so I moved it torqued it and now it's fine, hope this helps......

that would suck if this was the case. when you have a broken spring can you hear anything? i can rev the car up fine but once the rpms get low it gets choppy then dies

still got the stock one and its been touched when i got the motor rebuilt but it has been running strong for months after that and thousands of miles. could be a vaccum leak though

you could be on to something, were should i look to see if this could be happening? when i popped my hood after this incident my IAT sensor was unplugged for some reason but theres lots of slack at that point so i dont see how it could torque and pull it out but who knows, i also have poly mounts

You don't have a check engine light tho? Find someone who can read your codes. There might be some stored that can help diagnose the car.

Is there any way you can get a sould clip of the noise you're hearing?

You should be able to hear it, but these cars have a pretty noisy valvetrain even when they aren't broken, so it's hard to say. I would be careful revving the car too much until you know for sure what's going on as you don't want to risk doing more damage to the motor if it's something mechanical.

I would definitely pull the plugs and if that doesn't tell you anything, pull the valve covers. And if it is a spring, they honestly are not that bad to replace, just time consuming and monotonous.

Also, does your oil and coolant look ok ? Make sure it isn't something like a bad head gasket or head problem.

Hope this helps.

are these new plugs since your problem has started? or the same original plugs that were in there when the problem started?

im thinking fuel injector issue, wiring harness issue, or a spark issue but the car will run in park just not very good at all.

Sounds like a problem with spark. If they're covered in fuel, that means you're getting fuel into the cylendar.

Go to autozone and buy a spark plug tester. It should be like a spark plug wire with a "light bulb" that you put between the spark plug and coil. Should only be a couple bucks. If the cylendar is firing, then the bulb will flash at every RPM.

Does the car run at idle without pedaling the gas? Starting to sound like a big intake leak if you're hearing a whistle and it runs rough at idle... Plus if you have an intake leak, the engine will run lean so it will dump in extra fuel to try and even out.
