Default WstTexas, please what is min tint?

as in title, I think you may have answered this before but can not find answer, my bro WAS( passed away 60 days ago) a insp for the tx ins stations, if I remenber correctly he said the ins stations should pass a front side window if 20% or above, at what point can/will DPS write for tint ?

I will go out on a limb and suggest I am WELL under limit and will suggest if I were a LEO I would write more tickets for tint than any other offence I would not feel safe stopping any car I could not see into the REAR or side

just my .02

Hey, thanks for the question. Sorry, just now responding, was in Austin for some instructor training since sunday night. Legal tint NOW for all passenger vehicles, pickups and SUV's is 25% on front driver and passenger side doors and as dark as you want on all other doors and back window. Front windshield, absolutely not tint below AS-1 line or if you don't have that line, not tint below 5" from where the windshield starts.

Up until last year tint law was passenger cars 25% on ALL doors and trucks, SUV's were 25% only on fronts. BUt like I stated, that changed last year. Here is a link for all your window tint needs:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/faq/tint.htm

Hope this helps. As far as writing tickets, it is officer discretion. Inspection places are only supposed to pass legal vehicles, don't understand why they are passing 20%. Please let me know if you have further questions.
