Default Got raped in colorado traffic court.

Well i got shafted today with over $1000 fine for engaging in a speed contest.

Simply left a stoplight and the honda next to me thought it was on or something. He stuck me with the maximum penalty plus court costs.I got this a month back while working up in Denver. My only other option was to get a lawyer but i did not want to drive all the way back for court way down the line. Guess it could have been worse i still have my license. The judge did not even give me a chance to talk. Pretty much just told me how it was and that was it. In and out in 5 mins.

They have gotten so strict on anything that mentions street racing, street contest, etc. Any time a "sports" car is involved in any news story, it's called street racing. Racing or not, you will be "labeled". I do some spirited driving myself, just have to be careful and lucky. Your lucky you kept the car and your licence.

yeah...they don't mess around..I got one of these in Round Rock (Williamson county) years ago in my 99 formula, just spirited driving with no other traffic around (6AM). I opened it up thru 1st and rolled off midway thru second and about 30 secs later and rrpd cop comes flying down the street...Long story short..I fought it and lost in city court, appealed and got it dismissed in county, but had to hire a lawyer to do so...

^^^ Williamson county cops are such dicks though.

To the OP, I'm almost certain you don't have to show up in court if you hired an attorney, they do that for you, that's why you hire them, to represent you.

You are correct....They definitely have no sense of humor...The dick wrote on the back of his copy of the citation not to deal with me! My attorney informed me of this after he talked with the county DA...

when i had my grand prix gt (97) some lancer that was super modded launched hard as **** at a stop light next to me. i put it at about 4.5k in first and let off. wasnt racing at all just accelerating. cop pulls me over and asks why im racing. me -"do you really think i was racing a EVO in my GRAND PRIX??" cop - "why were there tires squeeling through the interseciton? " me - "did you not see the FLAMES coming outa his exhaust? musta been him, my traction control is on and the light never came on"

he let me go. he wasnt a dick tho so it was nice to have a descent cop for once

Very true! thats why im trying to move out of WILCO, a buddy i graduated with got caught with stolen property, evading arrest, and had 10grams of crack on him that he stole and all he got was 80hours of community service in travis county

Williamson county would have had him butt raped and locked away for years

yeah prob would have spent less if not just as much with a lawyer and it would not be on your record, but like you said, lessoned learned. like everyone said, it could be a lot worse. Good luck.
