Default popped my engine, what to get

Well the noise i had turned out to be some type of bearing noise, which ended up in my oil filter. So pretty much the shop is telling me to get a new short block. They want me get a ERL block, but i think thats a lil overkill for my goals(700-800whp). What do yall recommend. I have right now a 2.6L KB that i would like to keep to obtain my goal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

402 with some spray and sell the KB to make up for some of the expense.

forge the ls2, a bearing noise didnt damage the block or crank. turn the crank, forge the con rods and pistons, new bearings, arp hardware everywhere, and turn up the boost. stock crank been pushed over 1k so youll be fine and none of its overkill.

I'd do the ERL. They have short blocks for different power levels and even if you go above your HP goals, you have the extra safety margin. I plan to do an ERL motor when I need a new one.

Sell the blower and build a sleeved ls2 440. Run NA for a while.

i have priced out one them with a 102 FAST and NW 102 TB and it came to a little over 10g. take way the intake and TB (and reuse the KB ) you can cant the block, heads, cam, and all the other goodies from about $8900.

this just my dd. Dont wanna go too crazy, but also dont wanna worry about breakage. Honestly im leaning towards a 402 shortblock.

I would recommend the 402 shortblock and keep your compression at the same level as the old motor, or drop it down a few and put a smaller pully on the bell for even more fun.

Actually here is what I would do, sell your stock heads and pickup some l92s the cost difference isnt much. it would drop your compression and flow way better allowing for the KB to really wake things up. I know you say you want to stay around the same power level but trust me another 100 wheel hp will put a smile on your face and the car can still
have great street manners.

I have heard good and bad things about lethal performance, a guy in my corvette club wound up having his car there 18 months before they finished it. Make sure you dont wind up in the same boat. Also his engine has blown up 3 times in the last year and a half however his is a 1050whp build on a ls7 with boost. like I have said Ive heard good and bad about them.

I don't understand why they even brought it up. A forged Piston/rod ls2 should be more than enough.

Check out our shortblocks, link is in my sig. You could go with a LS3 415 and put what ever you want on it. It would make the power you are looking to get to as long as you do the 2618 pistons, which are required for boosted apps.

I hear what your saying. My car was in there for 3 months for the KB install, but that was during the xmas holiday, and some of the parts werent available. l92's wont work, b/c the kb is setup for ls2 heads. Unless some kind of adapter could be made.

forged pistons and rods, factory crank, a blower cam and pulley and you could easily be at 800+
