Default Car self destruct ..

PROBLEM SOLVED.. post #33.

Left school today, drove about 3-4 miles, upon entering my neighborhood the car started stuttering and as i come to the stop sign the car doesnt die out or anything, just stutters throughout the rpm range. Any ideas? Got home and popped the hood, sure enough theres a knock coming from what sounds like the pass head, pulled both valve covers.. springs and rockers look great. Thinking detonation, i did get gas at shell (beltway8 and telephone) after dropping a buddy off at hobby airport and being on E i put 12bucks of 93 to get myself back to 59/90 to grab my wallet. Just filled my tank at my normal spot and took a quick 2-3 mile ride and car is still ticking and not running right, seems to be getting worse. Get home ticking sounds like its coming from bottom of car now.. What do you guys think? Lifters? Rod bearing? Thanks Jeremy

If you say the sound is coming from the bottom, then check for exhaust leaks...

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me more than a knocking noise.

After listening to it for a while I'm starting to think the same thing, but I can't really tell with my crappy speakers.

OP, for reference here is a video of my LS1 with a spun connecting rod bearing;

yeah, sounds like an exhaust leak. if thats not the problem check your plugs and accessories. my mom's jeep sounded similar to that a few weeks ago because the bearing in her power steering pump went out, i thought something was seroiusly screwed up just by listening to it.

yea but it is affecting performance pretty bad... it doesnt die out or anything, but horrible idle and stutters, its real hesistant to rise in rpms, along with the knocking, which seems now to have like a knock on top of another knock

There is no sucking of air when the revs come down. Longs tubes some times leak from the very last port because of the bolt not being straight in the head. Get a rubber hose and listen around the header near the head you will hear exhaust if its leaking anywhere. To me sounds like a rod....
