prep your spray area too try to cut down on as much contaminates -> dust and pet hair as possible, I lightly watered and the swept the garage out, took a wet rag and wiped the table and the boxes I sprayed on. I layered about 7 coats of greens then little over 1 cans of duplicolor clear coat ~ dp100 ~ "top coat" ( this was because i had to sand the clear the final coatings of clear was just sprayed not sanded to give a texture)
I did mine in the summer time so heat wasn't an issue if your going to do in winter time a heat gun low speed or hair drier or longer periods of dry time.
* prep wipe if you don't if the wheels have factory silicone or wax coating it will fisheye or bead up and run off, if you sand or scotch bright it should take care of this and same with the paint adhesion to the metal but I would still buy promoter and prep wipes. adhesion promoter is like primer prep wipes grab alot of little pies of dust.
*wash and dry with microfiber, tape off and paper up the parts you dont want painted and the prep wipe before 1st layer, wait a min so prep wipe mist to dry / evap then the use duplicolor adhesion promoter AP100 or AP1, wait a min or two for it to "tack up " then spray color. spray as many layers as desired
*you might have to spray let dry a lil then respray, repeat till its the color you want it. enough to wet the paint but not enough to let it run 10-20 min soft dry time.
* don't touch the paint unless you want to sand do extra layers to even out you print. let it sit after a day or 2 if possible-> after a good hard dry prep wipe the rims again to make sure all dust and hairs are off the wheels let it evap then light adhesion promote again then go clear. its up to you if you want to sand the clear. you dont have to sand the color because its solid black the clear will fill in any cracks holes in the paint best to layer the clear up afterward a light sand on the clear coat will even out everything, I like the feel of the unsanded clear also make rims twinkle in teh light tho with solid colors it looks grainy.

okay I went ahead and painted the wheels for the new year. I would like to say that the wheel coating paint and clear from duplicolor is very nice and easy to apply. I spend alot of time prepping the surface so paint would turn out great! Weather was about 65 degrees and sunny...i know January and in the mid 60's crazy i know...I also had alot of fun painting the wheels myself.
Thanks for everybody's help and support. I saved alot of money and wheels turned out great!!
Here are some shots. I used duplicolor prep spray, scotchbrite pad to scuff the surface and lots of tape/newspaper.I sprayed 3-4 coats of black and 3-4 coats of clear.
