American wheel and tire 610 hempstead hwy near the mall but they are way to expensive IMO I wanted my lips painted or powdered in a light shiny green guy told me 175$ per wheel to paint ( @ 19in Dia. x 2wide ) 2 coats, no clear, no warranty.

another guy in katy does powder coating but im not sure of his work.
( never heard of anyone going to him for anything )

find a good lighting, sturdy surface, paint tape off everything, adhesion promoter, tack rag, microfiber towel, prep wipe, clean rag, 3M painter tape, a lot of newspaper or whatever filler( free greensheets ) good slow steady hand, good eye for detail, wet sanding color and clear, protective glaze or rubbing compound, light wet sand again and clear again. time is your best friend. mine holds up in rain, washing and tire shine. most light B/S rocks... if your not trying to damage your wheels.

*even tho its not in this picture paper was added in between the spokes so as not to get over spray on the inside barrel or rivets.

that looks professional. I guess it's easier when you can disassemble your wheel. I just need to tape off everything on mine. nice job!!

looks like you prepped the wheels well. thats the key to getting a good finished product. I would just be taping off the lip and inside part of the wheel. so it shouldnt be to bad. your wheels look great. I kinda like the green color. nice touch!!

Thanks! Yeah taping it off couldn't be all that bad. Hell, the video shows how to do it to a TTII. http://duplicolor.com/duplicolor-web.../wheelCoating/

if they are off the car ( you still riddin on factory ) and you don't need! them on take your time, I taped mine off in the living room lots of newspaper so paint wont soak through, the more time you spend on prep the better the results and easier clean up less reworking and little to no over spray mist. more layers of paint ( clear mostly ) the better too shields from damage. powdercoating might be the best way to go if in the budget.

If I choose to use the duplicolor and do-it myself, how many cans of black and clear would I need for all 4 wheels? Also how many layers do I need to spray and clear?

you could powder coat the centers.... It's stronger then paint anyway. Talk to DA at spectrum powder coat off of jones and 1960 if you want.

He has done 6 of my wheels and I like his work...

I don't drive the car alot and it's never out in bad weather so I'm thinking paint would be just fine and should hold up well. I'll see how much he charges to powdercoat them. thanks.

2 cans of paint for sure and I think 1 can of clear. The vid I posted tells you exactly what to do either way. Just follow that. It'll hold up if prep'ed right.

Read thread below on what to do and what NOT to do.

My inspiration below.
If it's good enough for Trust's Fikse's, then it's good enough for my iForged.

I feel the recommended paint will suffice. Certainly the most cost effective as well.

I agree? Now if I lived up North and drove car everyday then I would just get them powdercoated and be done with it.

what should I use to sand them and get the shine off?
