Help with ball joint...

Default Help with ball joint...

I need someone to press out and then press in a ball joint for me. Ill throw a few bucks your way...
Any takers?

Is the spindle still on the car? If so, whack it with a mallet or deadblow hammer right on the flat spots on the spindle. You will pop the ball joint right out. When you see those flat spots you will know what I mean. Almost look like they were designed for this.

I haven't even taken the wheel off yet. Ball joint will be delivered today so i was about to go get started.
So will this whacking method work for getting the ball joint back in? lol

you can borrow a ball joint tool from autozone/advance for free (put down a deposit and get it back when you return the tool). i just did all 4 ball joints on my truck it was easy

^^ If you are talking about a pickel fork, think again. Great way to cut the boots. Use a hammer to knock them out and save the boots.

if they are not sealed lube them even if they say they are pre lubed from factory lube again as safety.

I have access to one in La Porte at the ANG unit if you need to use it... Its a 18 ton press and will pop it out. Also autozone does have one you can use that they rent out.

yeah rent the tool, when you are "pressing" the new ball join back in, take your time and go slow, do not use a impact and after a couple of turns with the wratchet whack the a-arm a couple of time while turning it, it helps getting the ball joint in the right way and not crooked.
