Gt500 for sure. More bang for your buck when it comes to mods. Just a better platform to start with

That's not my car, those pics where cut and pasted from someones minitub thread on the other forum. I'm looking at getting my car done at ETMC eventually though, they've got the best deal ive seen thus far.

having owned a gto, i'd say gt500 all the way. i got tired of not being able to get normal wear and tear parts at the local parts store. almost everything for the gto will require a trip to the dealer or ordering and waiting, not good when its your dd.

I had a GTO and I'd go with the GT500.

GT500 all day.

The performance potential of a GT500 is way greater than that of a GTO. That being said, the GT500 will require fewer mods to be made fast. The only thing the GTO has to its advantage is probably the price and those cushy seats.

GT500 for sure, more power potential for the dollar when it comes to mods and it will hold it's resale value better.

I don't agree with the performance per dollar part. A GTO can be had much cheaper and when I was cam only I was running similar times to pullied GT500s at the track.

Yeah...I needed to clarify, I was referring to mods..100.00 pulley and tuner (400) will gain just as much as cam only LS2 for less and you don't have to buy a ton of ancillary components.....valve springs, oil pump, timing set, cam, pushrods, plus install/labor if you do not do it yourself will run you close to 2K.

Still don't see your logic. GT500 is like 30k more than a GTO. And that's new....

Who said the dude was buying new? New GT500 and '06 GTO are definitely not in the same league. Wouldn't need to post on that easy choice.

Holy **** it is???!!!! I know the GT500 is more than GTO used or new, purchase price aside, its fairly easy and inexpensive to make great power with GT500. You can make a 100 RWHP for peanuts with a GT500, it would cost thousands to do that with goat (H/C/I). Also consider most folks are going to finance a vehicle, so it's not like he will have 15-20K in cash for go fast parts if he goes the goat route.
