Unhappy Update: My 78 FJ40 is toast, Still looking

The short story is my father and I restored a 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 a few years ago.

Unfortunately the motor started to run hard this past weekend. After opening things up we found a blown head gasket, burned out cylinder walls and the head was not machined properly prior to taking ownership of the vehicle (unknown to us of course).

Since we have so many parts on this car I would prefer to find a donor vehicle than to part it out.

So if anyone on here can help us out that would be fantastic.

We are looking for a 1976-1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 ideally with the original 2F motor but will consider others. Or if you know where I can find another 2F motor please let me know.

The first motor found thanks to retardedpenguin is out of a 1982 model. Unfortunately without a lot of modification it wont fit in our 78 model. As i've found out we will be needing a motor from 1981 or older.

Thanks for reading. Any help is appreciated.

PM replied to.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will be looking on cool cruisers and a few other FJ related sites. If anyone has an info please don't hesitate. I'm very motivated to find another one.

There is a big soft spot in me to eventually get one of those. They are incredibly badass. I have a 97 landcruiser right now...so they are remotely similar?...in name?

Yeah they are all of the same line. Our 99 land cruiser is technically the FJ100 series. Yours is the FJ80.

Alright guys well unfortunately that motor is out of a 1982. A lot of modification is required to get that to fit in our 1978. So we are still on the hunt. As far as I know we will be needing a Toyota Inline 6 2F original from 1981 or older.

Appreciate all the help fellas.
